St. Louis Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals Preview

On the season the Rams are 3-5 ATS and they have an O/U record of 4-4 and the Cardinals are 6-2 ATS and they have an Under record of 2-5-1.

This season the Cardinals are 4-0 at home and the Rams are 2-2 on the road.

In their last games the Cardinals beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-17 and the Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers 13-10.

Which Rams’ team will show up in the desert this Sunday? The one that started the season 1-4 or the one that has 2 of their last 3 games taking out division rival Seattle and San Francisco? Odds makers are giving the Cardinals a 7-point betting advantage and Arizona is undefeated at home this season.

The Rams beat the 49ers last week because of a great defensive effort and they were a little lucky with getting a fumble as time expired protecting their goal line.

The Cardinals have a Jekyll and Hyde defense ranking 3rd in the league in run defense, but rank dead last in pass defense. For the Rams to win QB Austin Davis may have to do it all on offense and the defense has to play like they did in only giving up 10 points to the 49ers.

Carson Palmer is having a good season and in the win over the Cowboys he passed for 249 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT. Larry Fitzgerald has come on strong in the last few games after people were questioning if he was still a top-notch WR. The Rams pass defense has been solid this season ranking 8th in the league and one of the main reasons they held the 49ers in check was that they had 8 sacks, which is more than they had in their first 7 games of the season.

Andre Ellington has helped Palmer out this season on offense and he had a good game facing Dallas to the tune of 95 rushing yards. The Rams’ run defense only ranks 25th in the league, but in the San Francisco game they held the 49ers to only 80 rushing yards.

The Rams were held to under 200 yards in the win over San Francisco and they may need another low scoring defensive affair. Austin Davis was picked off twice with 1 TD and only 105 passing yards in the 49ers game and no St. Louis WR has over 400 receiving yards.

St. Louis has struggled to run the ball this season and they had less than 100 rushing yards last week. They will have a hard time in this game facing a solid Arizona run D that held the Cowboys to 92 rushing yards last week holding the league’s leading rusher in DeMarco Murray in check.
