New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Preview

On the season the Patriots are 9-5 ATS and they have an O/U record of 9-5 and the Jets are 4-9-1 ATS and they have an Under record of 6-8.

This season the Jets are 2-5 at home and the Patriots are 4-3 on the road.

In their last games the Patriots beat the Miami Dolphins 41-13 and the Jets beat the Tennessee Titans 16-11.

The Patriots won the AFC East title with their win over the Dolphins in their last game and they head to the Big Apple as big 10-point road favorites facing the Jets.

New England is tied with the best record in the AFC with the Broncos and if they win out they will have home field advantage in the playoffs since they beat Denver earlier this season.

The Jets are headed for another high draft pick, but they did snap their 3-game losing streak in their last game. While they are the big home underdog one of their best games of the season was a few weeks back at New England when they only lost to the Pats by 2 points.

The weakness of the Patriots defense is their pass D, which only ranks 22nd in the league. However, that may not hurt them much facing a Jets’ passing offense that ranks dead last in the NFL.

The Jets beat the Titans with their defense holding Tennessee to only 11 points. However, the Titans have a weak offense and that is not the case with Tom Brady and the Patriots. Brady passed for 287 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT in the Dolphins win and he had a solid game with 3 TD and 0 INT in the earlier win over the Jets. The Jets only rank 20th in the league in pass defense.

The Jets are solid against the run, ranking 4th in the league, and they stuffed the run earlier facing New England. The Pats had 108 rushing yards in the Miami win.

The main reason the Jets almost scored the upset against the Pats this season was that they rushed for 218 yards. The Jets rushed for 114 yards in the Tennessee game with Chris Johnson averaging 5.5 yards per carry for 55 yards. If the Jets cannot run the ball this game may get ugly.

Geno Smith did not have a big game facing Tennessee with 179 yards with 1 TD, but at least he was not picked off. The Pats defended the run well facing Miami in their last game, but they did give up over 300 yards in the air.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

* New England is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games.
* New England is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
* New York is 3-2 ATS in their last 5 games.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

The Patriots still are hungry for home field advantage, which is huge since they are undefeated at home this season, and they will not slip up against the Jets. Unlike the earlier match between these 2 teams this one will not be close, as New England will win and cover the spread.
