Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview

On the season the Panthers are 9-8 ATS and they have an O/U record of 9-8 and the Seahawks are 9-6-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 8-8.

This season the Seahawks are 7-1 at home and the Panthers are 3-4-1 on the road.

In their last games the Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-16 and the Seahawks beat the St. Louis Rams 20-6.

Well, the Panthers got to .500 on the season winning last week at home against Arizona, but they were facing a team with a 3rd string backup QB and they were in their house. Now they are big 11-point betting underdogs on the road facing a red hot Seahawks’ team that is at home and the defending champions.

Seattle has won 6 straight and their defense has been awesome. In their streak they have given up an average of 6.5 points per game. Their offense has not been lights out, but their D has been and overall they rank 1st in the league defending the pass and 3rd defending the pass.

Cam Newton had a pretty good game in the Wild Card win over the Cardinals with 198 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT. he also rushed for 35 yards in the game.

It will be key that the Panthers’ offensive line play well against a Seattle pass rush that has been solid in the team’s winning streak. If they can give Newton time he must make some plays to his main targets of Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olson.

One of the bigger match ups in this game is Carolina RB Jonathan Stewart facing the great Seattle run defense. Stewart had 123 rushing yards in the Arizona win and has rushed for over 120 yards in 3 of his last 5 games.

To say the Panthers shut down the Cardinals would be a massive understatement. They held Arizona to a grand total of 78 yards, but can they contain Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch? Wilson has not put up a big season passing the ball, but he has been a great game manager, has avoided the turnover, and led QB;s this season with 849 rushing yards averaging over 7 yards per run.

Lynch had over 1,300 rushing yards this season with 13 TD and he leads Seattle and their top-ranked run game. If the Seahawks have a good running game the Panthers are in trouble.

They must make Wilson beat them with his arm and they cannot allow him to get out of the pocket and have a good game on the ground.
