Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants Preview

On the season the Falcons are 2-2 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 3-1 and the Giants are also at 2-2 ATS with an Over/Under record of 3-1.

The Giants are 1-1 at home this season and the Falcons are 0-2 on the road.

Last week the Giants got their 2nd straight win with a 45-14 win over the Washington Redskins and the Falcons lost to the Minnesota Vikings 41-28.

After looking terrible and losing their first 2 games of the season the Giants have got back to .500 with 2 straight wins. One of the main reasons for the turnaround is the play of QB Eli Manning.

In the first 2 games he was picked off 4 times, but in the last 2 he has 6 TD passes and only 1 pick.

The Falcons have 2 impressive wins and 2 less than impressive losses including last week’s loss to the Vikings where they gave up over 240 rushing yards. In the 2 Atlanta wins Matt Ryan has not picked off and in the 2 losses he has 5 picks.

Victor Crus is Manning’s main weapon and 2nd year TE Larry Donnell has emerged a legit target and leads the team in catches. Manning has been getting help from Rashad Jennings, who ranks 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards so far on the season.

The offense has been clicking in the last couple of games for the G-Men, which is not good news for the Falcons, who have really struggled on D ranking 30th in the league defending the pass and 28th defending the run.

The Falcons need a more balanced offense attack, as they have been relying on WR Julio Jones too much. He has 447 receiving yards while the 2nd leading target is Devin Hester with 196 yards.

Ryan will be facing a New York pass defense that ranks 22nd in the league, but one key stat is that the Giants do have an athletic secondary that has the most INT in the league.

Stephen Jackson and Antone Smith will have to get some help to Ryan facing a New York run defense that ranks 10th in the league.

The Giants held a solid rushing attack of the Redskins to only 86 yards last week. Smith is the 2nd leading rusher for the Falcons, but the majority of his yards this season have come on 2 long runs.

Jackson will get the bulk of the carrier and he has 201 yards and 1 TD on the season averaging 4 yards per run.

Have to go with the hot Giants in this one at home, as Manning will have another solid game facing a struggling Atlanta defense.
