The Chargers are rolling and in typical San Diego fashion, they started slow and many were already counting them out. San Diego has seized control of the AFC West by winning four of their last five including a 37-7 win over the same Chief team. The running game is cooking for the Chargers and with a Norv Turner offense and team, everything else follows. The Chargers put a hurting on Denver last week and it wasn’t any one player laying out the damage, it was a total team effort. Around a month ago, many thought that Ladanian Tomlinson was done. LT has looked far from done in recent weeks, he actually just looks fresh for the playoff drive. The defense is holding firm and looking healthier than most units around the league.

Kansas City has won two straight and beat Pittsburgh, the defending Super Bowl Champions last week in overtime. Kansas City hasn’t quit in one game all season and while they don’t have the talent to compete with everyone on a weekly basis, they have the heart and that is the most you can ask for at this point in the journey of assembling a football team. The Chiefs will more than likely be drafting high and get a few rounds worth of top notch talent to add to the young core they already have and will be competing soon enough. In the mean time, they should be able to hang tough with most teams though the wins may not come so often. Jamal Charles has done a nice job filling in for the hole left by Larry Johnson and it’s something that they’ll address in the off season..

San Diego is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games but 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games as a home favorite of 10 1/2 points or more. Kansas City is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games against a team with a winning home record and 9-1 against the spread as a road underdog of 10 1/2 or more points.

San Diego will probably win the West and make another playoff run as they have done the past several years. They have been building to get over the hump for quite some time and eventually they will get over it or they never will. In any event, Kansas City is still not on the level of the Chargers but they are professionals who give it all they have, and they should be enough to keep this one within the spread.

I see this game being a lot closer than most people think so Kansas City and 13.5 to me is a great pick. The Chiefs are playing much better lately and San Diego could have a bit of a letdown this week after winning 5 straight.
