The Seattle Seahawks head to Dallas on Sunday to take on a Cowboys team that was beaten and humiliated last week.

Over/Under: 44 ½ points

Seattle is coming off a loss too in a game that they outgained their opposition by 159 yards. The notoriously poor road Hawks will hope that the team that defeated the Giants a few weeks back shows up on Sunday – not the team that lost 6-3 in Cleveland the week after.

One thing is certain – Seattle is a completely different team with Tavaris Jackson at the helm. Jackson came on after 1 ½ quarters last week and posted 323 yards passing despite an injured pectoral muscle. His 323 yards in 2 2/1 quarters easily eclipsed the yardage total of Charlie Whitehurst’s output in two full games. Jackson makes everyone around him better – hence the air of optimism in the Seahawk locker room.

Seattle’s offense has simply been awful this season. They are the 23rd ranked passing team, the 31st ranked running team and they are in the bottom of the league in points scored as well – just 15.57 points per game. The Hawks will face a Dallas defense that was shredded last week to the tune of 495 yards however!

The Dallas run defense has been stellar so Marshawn Lynch figures to have another in a long line of disappointments. However, their run D did give up a staggering 239 yards on the ground to the Eagles last week. It will be Seattle’s passing game that is going to have to steal the show on Sunday – the Dallas secondary is banged up and just average this season.

Seattle’s defense will have their hands full on Sunday. Their 11th ranked run defense will be in charge of slowing down a terrific rookie DeMarco Murray and the 18th ranked pass defense will be in charge of limiting the effectiveness of Tony Romo, Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. The Dallas Cowboys have proven to be one of the most inconsistent and maddening teams in the NFL. Last week they were simply outclassed and exposed in Philadelphia. Dallas has some ground to make up in the NFC East and it all begins with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Dallas offense has been decent at times this season and utterly out of sync the rest of the time. Tony Romo is has been as inconsistent as we have seen in his young career and has definitely slipped from the ranks of the elite among NFL QBs. With Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, there is little excuse for failure. Despite some unflattering play, the Cowboys still own the league’s 7th ranked passing game and should be able to exploit a Seattle pass defense that has been decimated by injuries this season.

DeMarco Murray is the real deal. Even though Felix Jones could return to action this week, it will be up to Murray to carry the load. Seattle has been good against the run but that unit should be no match for the impressive rookie.

Betting Prediction: The Seattle Seahawks are 2-6 SU in their last eight games and are 1-7 SU in their last eight on the road. The Hawks are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight on the road and are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five trips to Dallas, The Dallas Cowboys are 5-0 SU and ATS in their last five games against Seattle but are just 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Dallas is 2-9-1 in their last 10 games as home favorite.

Seattle, despite a loss last week is upbeat ahead of Sunday’s action. With Tavaris Jackson at the helm, the Hawks are a different team. Although I like Dallas to win SU on Sunday, recent trends have shown that the team struggles as a home favorite. Seattle’s emerging passing game should keep this game closer than many expect. Dallas gets it done but in typically uninspiring fashion.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks to cover the 11 ½ points
