Minnesota

The Vikings won their last 4 games to make it into the playoffs including wins against division rivals Chicago and Green Bay.  They are one of the nicer story lines in the league as running back Adrian Peterson made an assault on the single season rushing yardage mark.  This team had a nice season but I think they are still overrated…

That is because as good as Peterson is Christian Ponder has too many games where he does not look like an NFL quarterback.

With receiver Percy Harvin out for the season the pickings are slim when he looks to throw the ball which is why it is no surprise that Peterson has had such a heavy workload coming back from major injury.

The running game and a better than average defense have brought the team this far…That four game win streak to close the season included 4 ATS wins too, all as underdogs which is a nice run if you got on early.

It is hard to tell where the real value in this one is after last week because as much as Green Bay wanted the game they didn’t need it.

I will probably pass unless the numbers moves a lot one way or the other

Green Bay

After a rocky start Green Bay started to look like the team we expected losing only two of their final 11 games.  They are still pretty banged up but as they host this playoff game on the Frozen Tundra they have seen a return to the lineup of several key players.  [soliloquy id=”82219″]

This experienced team looks ready for a solid playoff run and are heavy favourites to make it to the next round.

I would be shocked if they didn’t…QB Aaron Rodgers enjoyed another fantastic season, his fourth straight with a passer rating over 100.

In fact you could argue it was his finest season yet as top receivers Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings were out of the lineup for big chunks without the offense skipping a beat.  Plus the running game was a non factor to the point that they brought back reliable Ryan Grant…As they barreled down the stretch the Packers took bettors with them, putting up an 8-3 record ATS.

They covered in their first matchup with the Vikings at home but couldn’t close out the season with a win even though they were a 3 point favourite.

Green Bay has not been great as a medium favourite (between 6 and 10 points) going just 2-3 ATS.

They are so pass oriented that sometimes they let teams have more chances than other top teams.
