When a team is rolling like Green Bay where do you start?
Only one of their games this season has been decided by less than a touchdown and that was at Minnesota a few weeks ago. If you haven’t already, this is a great chance to see this team up close on Turkey Day.
It is hard to make a case that Aaron Rodgers is not the MVP of the league this year. Sure he has a lot of talent surrounding him but in my opinion that just emphasizes the point.
He is using all of his weapons to direct a masterful attack. It might not statistically rival that of Tom Brady in the Pats recent record breaking campaign but Rodgers is close.
It also seems more natural, when the Pats were having success it felt like they were running it up a bit.
Can there be such a think as revenge when you are 10-0 and defending Super Bowl Champs? The Packers lost to Detroit late last year 7-3 at Ford Field. It might have knocked them out of the playoffs but it didn’t so I am not sure how hungry the Pack will be to beat the Lions.
They are probably more interested in their perfect season with the Lions being no more of a hurdle than any other team right now. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Detroit
It has been a while since Thanksgiving in Detroit had this much optimism. The Lions are firmly in the playoffs discussion in the NFC and if they hand the Packers their first defeat of the season they will be within striking distance of them in the division too, especially because they will have another shot at them next month.
I like their chances and as much as winning is great the key thing is that they compete.
They can not afford a laugher like at Chicago a couple of weeks ago.
Matt Stafford was great last week but the best part of their win over Carolina was the production on the ground from Kevin Smith. Smith erupted for 140 yards and reminded us of the promise of his rookie season when he almost broke 1000 yards.
He has struggled with injuries ever since, heck he is a Lions RB, but he could be a significant compliment to Jahvid Best if he ever comes back this season
Prior to last year’s victory it had been a long time since the Lions beat Green Bay. Against any other team at home on Thanksgiving they would probably be the favourite but they aren’t, perhaps adding more fuel to their fire. Speaking of fire there should be a lot of scoring in this one as it features two of the top three scoring offenses in the league.
Detroit should be able to hang in a make it a one score game. I am gunning for an upset.
