They will now host the Detroit Lions on Sunday at the Dawg Pound, looking to take a sole position of the top spot in the AFC North.

Detroit was a 22-9 loser in their most recent outing without star receiver Calvin Johnson on the road against the Green Bay Packers, but are still 3-2 on the year.

Johnson is still listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Browns, so the Lions will have to rely more on its running game, led by Reggie Bush, who rushed for 44 yards for Detroit last weekend. However, Bush has struggled, and has just 298 yards on the ground and one rushing TD so far.

Meanwhile, quarterback Matthew Stafford has also been a huge disappointment with just eight touchdown passes versus three INTs for the Lions this year.

On the other side of the ball it’s no different. Defensively, Detroit is struggling this season, as teams are averaging 25 points per game against them. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

In the meantime, the Browns have won three straight since trading away Trent Richardson, and grabbed a Week 5 victory over the Bills in their last game, winning 37-24 at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden completed 13-of-24 pass attempts for 197 yards and one TD for the Browns, after stepping in for Brian Hoyer who was lost for the season in last week’s win over Buffalo.

Weeden will hope for a little help from one of  the best defensive units in the game, as the Browns  are ranked ninth in the league in points allowed per game and first in the league in points per play, allowing just 4.3 to opponents.

The unit also ranks second in the league against the pass, allowing 5.3 yards per attempt, which will come in handy as they will be facing a Detroit team that likes to air it out.

Matt’s Free Prediction

My play here is going to be on the Browns as they have the advantage of the home field and a much better defense

Sure, Stafford will get his yards, but the Browns will get the points off sustaining drives driven by the run.

Just like the spread suggest, look for a close one with one twist — the Browns coming out on top.

Browns 20, Lions 17.
