Redskins

Washington went an impressive 3-1 in during the preseason, but still enter the regular season with a lot question marks surrounding quarterback Robert Griffin III, who did not look as stellar as the team would have hoped at this point of the season.

Maybe his injury is still bothering him a bit. If so, the Skins’ will need to lean heavily on its running game, which is fuled by a trio of very capable running backs in Alfred Morris, Pierre Garcon and the newly acquired DeSean Jackson.

Nevertheless, the Redskins offense is only going to be as good as a healthy and RGIII.

Defensively, Washington is solid and should be a little better in the secondary than last season with the addition of safety Ryan Clark.

Texans

Meanwhile, Houston first-year-head coach Bill O’Brien will get his chance to prove himself in his first real NFL game, behind a Texans team that will want to prove that last year was no accident.

The Texans will once again rely on Andre Johnson, Arian Foster and DeAndre Hopkins, as it will reaming to be seen if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is the right answer to get Houston back into the postseason.

The team struggled putting points on the board in three of their four preseason games, and a big part of that was a weak passing attack. Making the Texans a one-dimensional team.

On the defensive side of the football, Houston should still be just as good as it was last season when it was ranked third in the league against the pass.

Week 1 NFL Football Spread Prediction

Both teams are still looking for answers on offense and that makes this one hard to predict.

Looking at the numbers, the Redskins are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games while the Texans are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games.

So, since the Texans are at home I am going to take the home team here.
