NFL Odds: Saints vs. Cowboys Pick

NFL Week 4 Regular Season action sees the New Orleans Saints taking on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 28 at AT&T Stadium. Cappers Picks provides free *NFL* handicapping tips all season long.

The Sunday Nighter in Week 4 featured two elite offenses and two average defenses – needless to say points are there to be had when the New Orleans Saints invade Arlington, Texas and the Dallas Cowboys.

Both teams have a ton to prove – a win on Sunday will go a long way in silencing some of the early season critics.

Saints

The Saints have been arguably the most disappointing team in the NFL so far – they got their first win last week in less-than-spectacular form. Mistakes have plagued this team so far – a lack of execution hasn’t helped either.

New Orleans has to be better on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball or risk falling two games below .500.

New Orleans got their best game of the season from Drew Brees last week – he was 27-for-35 for 293 yards and two touchdowns – a good sign for a QB that had been unflattering early on. The bad news is that New Orleans was shut down after the first quarter against Minnesota and scored just 20 points the entire game.

Still, with the weapons that the Saints possess, you have to think that a major breakout is imminent – it could come against a sketchy Cowboys defense.

The Saints defense has been poor this season – they averaged 495 yards against in the first two games before getting it together and surrendering 247 yards to the Vikings – although Minnesota is hardly an offensive juggernaut at this point of the season. Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray are a completely different type of challenge for Rob Ryan’s crew.

New Orleans has to hope that their performance last week was a sign of things to come – my thought is that the Saints will surrender their fair share of yards and points Sunday night.

Cowboys

How bout dem Boys? Off two straight wins including a huge come-from-behind 34-31 victory versus St. Louis, Dallas has a chance to make a real statement in the NFC. Tony Romo was able to shrug off a predictable mistake, DeMarco Murray was able to maintain his fine play and the defense actually came up with a game-changing interception in the win.

But – and that is a BIG BUT, the Cowboys surrendered 327 yards passing to Rams’ rookie QB Austin Davis – not good, and they made Jake Locker look pretty good in their win against the Titans.

Make no mistake about it, Dallas still has a terrible defense – one that could and maybe should cost them against better teams.

There is also the issue with an offense that is uber-prone to turnovers. Tony Romo has four interceptions on the year to go along with four TDs and DeMarco Murray has committed a fumble in each of his first three games. He has rushed for over 100 years in each of those games.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

That said Dallas, when they put it all together is a very talented team – capable of scoring a ton of points on any given week. Like the Saints, Tony Romo and his offense are going to have to be the stars – neither defense isn’t likely to help the offense out.

NFL Week 4 Betting Trends

• NO are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 4.
• Under is 13-3 in NO last 16 vs. NFC.
• NO are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games.
• DAL are 7-20 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
• Under is 8-3 in DAL last 11 games in September.
• Underdog is 8-1 ATS in their last 9 meetings.
• NO are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meetings.

Both defenses in this game are bad and both offenses have weapons galore which means a ton of points will be scored. The Over – 53 points is the play here as both teams march up and down the field at will. Turnovers will come into play here as well. If you love offense, his game is for you. If you like defense – maybe see what’s new on Netflix!
