Free NFL Pick: Colts vs. Broncos Gambling Lines & Preview

Week 1 Odds: Indianapolis vs Denver

The Denver Broncos host the Indianapolis Colts at Sports Authority Field in NFL week 1 action. Be sure to come back, as Cappers Pick will be providing free NFL picks throughout the entire season.

These two teams played last season and the Colts won at home (39-33). This year the game is at Mile High and that gives Denver a big advantage. I’ll be looking at the IND vs. DEN over/under in this article.

This game has the highest game total of the week, which makes sense. Peyton Manning is capable to put up 40+ points anytime he’s on the field and Andrew Luck is primed for a breakout season in year 3.

Most of the action (75%+) has been on the over in this game. I’m going against the grain and betting on the under 55 points (-110) because I don’t expect these two teams to pile up the points this week.

Indianapolis has multiple question marks on defense. They didn’t address a weak secondary from last year and that’s the biggest problem. The LB unit should be better and the defensive line is still strong.

Losing Mathis to suspension will hurt the Colts front seven in this match-up, but they should be fine, as they added Arthur Jones and D’Qwell Jackson. They also drafted Newsome as a pass rusher.

If Manning had the weapons that he had last year I’d expect him to put up 40+ points, but that isn’t the case.

Eric Decker and Knowshon Moreno are no longer on the team and Wes Welker is suspended.

Demaryius Thomas will get a lot of targets in this game and the Colts would be wise to double team as much as possible.

Julius Thomas emerged as one of the best TE’s in the league last year as well.

Other than those two the Broncos don’t have too many other weapons. Emmanuel Sanders was signed to the team, but he is far from an elite talent. I don’t expect the Broncos to score at will this week.

Luck has Hakeem Nicks at his disposal this year plus his WR’s from last season, but this team needs a run game to keep the opposing defense guessing. Right now the Colts are a pass heavy team.

NFL football betting trends

  • Colts are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 1.
  • Under is 7-2 in Colts last 9 games in Week 1.
  • Under is 5-0 in Broncos last 5 vs. AFC.
  • Over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.
  • Favorite is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.

Free NFL Picks: Colts vs. Broncos

Denver has a strong defense this year that’ll be able to get to the QB regularly. Luck is going to be under pressure most of the game and struggle to get rolling on the road plus the Colts have no run game.

4* Play On Under 55 Points (-110)

The Broncos will have success passing the football, but the Colts will make some stops. I also think we’ll see a healthy dose of Montee Ball once the Broncos have a lead in order to keep Manning healthy.
