It was a big night for Peyton Manning on Sunday when he set the NFL record for career passing touchdowns. He didn’t get long to savor the moment with a quick turnaround before this AFC West clash on Thursday.

Manning threw four touchdown passes in a 42-17 rout of the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday to pass Brett Favre for the top spot in the all-time list, finishing the night having bettered Favre’s total by two scores with 510 of his own.

Manning figures to add to that total on Thursday against a Chargers team that he has thrown a touchdown against in all 11 career meetings. Manning is 4-1 against the Chargers since joining the Broncos, with the lone loss in that span coming at Mile High Stadium. That game also came on a Thursday.

In that game, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw only 20 passes, completing 12 of them for 166 yards. Meanwhile, running back Ryan Mathews ran the ball 29 times for 127 yards and a touchdown as the Chargers outrushed the Broncos 177-18, snapping a four-game losing streak in Denver.

With Mathews out with a sprained MCL, Branden Oliver will be called upon to carry the reigns for the Chargers’ rushing attack. He’s run for 316 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry in three games as the team’s feature back.

He’ll be in tough against a Broncos run defense that currently ranks third in the NFL against the run, allowing opponents to rack up 74.3 yards per game. A lot of that has to do with the fact the Broncos have been in front for much of the season, though. Last year’s team allowed 101.6 yards per game.

Should the Chargers need to go to the air, Rivers has been outstanding, throwing for 17 touchdowns with three interceptions, and compiling the third-highest passer rating in the league.
