As crazy as it might sound, the Bucs are still in the playoff hunt with their miserable 2-9 record, while Cinci is clinging to their playoff lives at 7-3-1.

That’s correct, your eyes are not deceiving you, the Buccaneers with just two wins could still conceivably win their division and play a home playoff game. It’s a bit of a stretch for that to actually happen but it’s a testament of just how weak the NFC South is this year.

The Bengals on the other hand must be wishing they played in a division like the South, as they sit just a half game up on the entire AFC North at 7-3-1 and at this point can ill-afford a loss to almost any team at the risk of putting their playoff hopes in peril.

Bengals

The visitors will wrap up a three game road stint where they have really seen a return to form. The Bengals were embarrassed at home three weeks ago by the Browns but followed that up with back to back road wins over the Saints and Texans to keep themselves in contention for the division title.

QB Andy Dalton came under a lot of scrutiny after a very poor showing at home against Cleveland, but has responded with four TD passes in his last two games against just one interception.

Dalton’s O-line deserves a lot of credit for keeping the QB clean as well as Dalton was only sacked once in the last two games, and none against a potent Houston pass rush.

The resurgence of a legitimate ground attack with Jeremy Hill has helped the Bengals dictate the pace on offense and Cinci has racked up 186 and 139 yards on the ground in their last two games (in their loss to Cleveland the Bengals managed just 86 yards rushing).

The formula seems pretty cut and dry for Cinci, establish the run game to take some pressure off Dalton and he will make the necessary throws to win you some ball games.

Buccaneers

The Bucs’ two wins this season stand as the second lowest win total in the NFL, yet there is still hopes for playoff football.

If there’s one thing that Tampa can lean on it’s that they’ve played the AFC North fairly well this season with one of their wins coming against the Steelers, and they played the Browns very tough on the road and squandered a lead that they carried into the fourth quarter losing 22-17.

This team might boast one of the more exciting offenses for how awful their record is. Rookie wideout Mike Evans has all the makings of a star in this league, Vincent Jackson is aging but is still a giant of a man and is a handful.

It would be nice if this team had a bit better QB than Mike Glennon or Josh McCown to feed those two.

What has cost the Bucs this year however is their inability to finish games. Tampa led the Bears 10-0 at half last week before losing 21-13.

They led the Falcons 16-10 after three quarters three weeks ago, they led the Browns by one heading into the final frame as mentioned above, and they led the Vikings until the last ticks of the clock before a Blair Walsh field goal tied the game and the Vikings eventually won in OT.

NFL Betting Trends

* Under is 7-2 in CIN last 9 games in November.
* TB are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
* TB are 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 home games.
* TB are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games on grass.

If the Bucs finish out those games in which they’ve had leads at halftime or later, that’s four more wins and a 6-5 record that would have them comfortably out front in the pathetic NFC South.

Week 13 Bengals vs. Buccaneers 4* Free Pick

The Bengals have enjoyed life on the road lately and more importantly out of the spotlight. This team always manages to play their worst when they’re in prime time and all eyes are on them.

Thankfully there won’t be too many people turning their focus to this game on Sunday so the Bengals should come out with another win and head back home atop their division.

I like the Bengals to cover in this one.
