NFL Football Picks: Handicapping Angles – Week 8 Free Parlay

Week 8 FREE NFL Parlay Picks

The Chicago Bears cost me last week’s NFL two-team parlay after Carolina and Green Bay took their game OVER the closing total line just as predicted. The Bears could not even win their game against Miami straight-up after closing as three-point home favorites in 27-14 loss.

I have gone back to drawing board to start breaking down this week’s NFL matchups to come up with a two-team play that will get me back to my winning ways.

The following is a look at my top picks for Week 8’s NFL two-team parlay based on betting odds from BetOnline.

Game 1 – Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers

Pointspread: Seattle -5
Total Line: 44.5
Matchup | Preview

It could be the lingering effects of a Super Bowl or the distraction of reading about just how good everyone thinks they are, but the Seahawks are suddenly one more loss away from falling below .500 on the year if they cannot get by the panthers this week.

I was always a bit skeptical about how dominant the football experts painted Seattle out to be, but the bottom line is that this team is still loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and it should end-up winning quite a few more games than it loses after a disappointing 3-3 straight-up start.

Carolina fell to 3-3-1 straight-up after last Sunday’s 38-17 loss to Green Bay as a 7.5-point road underdog, but that record is still good enough to hold onto first place in the watered-down NFC South.

The Panthers are now just 1-3-1 SU in their last five games and 2-3 against the spread. Seattle is clearly the better team in this matchup and I am banking on the Seahawks getting back on track with a dominating win on the road this Sunday.

Game 2 – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals

Pointspread: Arizona -2.5
Total Line: 48
Matchup | Preview

The Eagles are coming off a bye after dismantling the New Giants 27-0 in Week 6 as slight 1.5-point home favorites.

They are currently 5-1 both SU and ATS and the total has gone OVER in four of their first six games.

The only thing that head coach Chip Kelly cares about is scoring points and so far his team has posted 27 points or more in five of the six games.

The defense finally showed up against the Giants after allowing 27 point or more in three of the team’s previous four outings.

Arizona knows it needs to win games such as this to have any shot at hanging onto its lead in the NFC West. It has taken full advantage of both Seattle’s and San Francisco’s slow start with a SU record of 5-1 (4-2 ATS). Known primarily for their defense, the Cardinals have been able average 23.3 points a game on the year.

They got Carson Palmer back at quarterback, which should only help to exceed this number on Sunday against Philly.

I think has the makings of a great matchup that goes down to the wire, but the top play to fill-out the back-end of this week’s parlay is the OVER on a total line of 48.
