Cappers NFL Picks: Week 8 Pro Football Power Rankings

Where Each Team Stands Heading Into Week 8

Another crazy week of NFL action is in the books – Peyton Manning set a record that may never, ever be touched, the Seahawks lost again, the Cowboys kept their insane roll going.

The Arizona Cardinals lead the NFC West by two games and the Colts and Ravens have officially become contenders in the AFC. What does that mean for this week’s rankings?

Let’s break down the NFL’s top dogs.

1. Broncos (5-1) Last Week: 1

The Broncos answered a lot of questions Sunday night – that they can play through distraction and dominate good teams. Their latest victim San Francisco was absolutely manhandled by this team in every aspect of the game. Peyton Manning is the best of all time and with a formidable defense, his team is top of the mountain again.

2. Cowboys(6-1) Last Week: 2

You could make a case for the Cowboys in the #1 spot this week. Tony Romo is taking care of the football, DeMarco Murray has been off the charts and the Cowboys defense is playing WAY over its head right now.

There is no team clicking like the Cowboys in the NFC – none!

3. Cardinals(5-1) Last Week: 6

The Cards just keep adding to their lead in the NFC West and although their win against Oakland in Week 7 wasn’t all that inspiring, Arizona is still proving to be one of the most well rounded teams in the league.

4. Eagles(5-1) Last Week: 5

The Eagles were on a bye last week and rise due to some unflattering play of some of the teams ahead of them last week in the Rankings. A true test comes this week with their game against Arizona. It’s good to see that LeSean McCoy finally got going before the bye.

5. Colts(5-2) Last Week: 8

The Colts have won five straight – their losses were in close fashion to the Eagles and the Broncos. Andrew Luck has thrown for 300+ yards in five straight games and the defense actually posted a shutout Sunday – no easy task. Gotta love the Colts – they are for real!

6. Ravens(5-2) Last Week: 11

The Ravens have posted easy wins over the Bucs and the Falcons the last couple of weeks and look like a very complete team right now.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

An improved passing game, a respectable running game and a typically tough defense has the Ravens rise this week.

7. Patriots(5-2) Last Week: 9

Barely beat the Jets on Thursday night. With Belichek and Brady, it is hard to imagine the Pats falling out of the top 10 again this year. Injuries have been a story on both sides of the ball but that hasn’t deterred New England from rising two spots this week.

8. Packers(5-2) Last Week: 10

The Packers have lost two of their first three games but are one a tidy four game win streak. Aaron Rodgers and the passing game look virtually unstoppable right now and are knocking on the door of a top 5 spot.

9. Chargers(5-2) Last Week: 3

The Chargers fell back to earth in Week 7 losing at home to the Chiefs. KC gave the Chargers a taste of their own medicine controlling the clock and running the ball. This is more like it – the Chargers had no place at #3.

10. Seahawks(3-3) Last Week: 4

Wow! The Hawks look vulnerable – don’t they? Two straight losses have the Seahawks tumbling down the Rankings this week. Teams are scoring in bunches on this defense and the offense seems to be stuck in neutral. I’m not sure what to make of this team – a playoff spot is no certainty anymore!

11. Lions(5-2) Last Week:13

Give the Lions a ton of credit – down 13 points with four minutes left to go against New Orleans and pulling out the win – WITHOUT CALVIN JOHNSON. They still have the league’s best defense and the offense really showed us something Sunday.

12. Chiefs(3-3) Last Week: 17

The Chiefs went into San Diego and beat a good Chargers team in Week 7 – no easy task.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

With Jamaal Charles in the fold and with Alex Smith back to his efficient ways expect the Chiefs to make a little noise in the AFC.

13. 49ers (4-3) Last Week: 7
14. Bengals (3-2-1) Last Week: 12
15. Dolphins (3-3) Last Week: 20
16. Bears (3-4) Last Week: 14
17. Panthers (3-2-1) Last Week: 16
18. Browns (3-3) Last Week: 15
19. Steelers (4-3) Last Week: 24
20. Bills (4-3) Last Week: 18
21. Giants (3-4) Last Week: 21
22. Texans (3-4) Last Week: 19
23. Saints (2-4) Last Week: 22
24. Falcons (2-5) Last Week: 23
25. Vikings (2-4) Last Week: 25
26. Rams (2-4) Last Week: 26
27. Jets (1-6) Last Week: 27
28. Redskins (2-5) Last Week: 29
29. Titans (2-5) Last Week: 28
30. Jaguars (1-6) Last Week: 32
31. Buccaneers (1-5) Last Week: 30
32. Raiders (0-6) Last Week: 31
