Arizona vs Seattle Betting

Headline: Seahawks Return Home to Take on Lowly Cardinals in Week 14

The Seattle Seahawks get back to the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field this week after two road games produced a win at Chicago and a disappointing loss at Miami. Their opposition this week? The Arizona Cardinals – losers of eight straight games and seemingly with little optimism for the rest of the season. .

Could this be a “trap game” or will the Hawks keep the pressure on the NFC Wild Card contenders with yet another win?

Not much has gone right for the Arizona Cardinals the last couple of months! Eight straight losses, a QB carousel that makes some Div III colleges look good and even some fisticuffs among teammates. But is there is a silver lining it may come in the form of Kevin Kolb who could return to action this week. Big deal right? It is if you have watched John Skelton and Ryan Lindley behind center lately!

The Arizona Cardinals are the worst offensive team in the NFL – 32nd in scoring with an average of just 15.50 points per game, 31st in rushing averaging 81.50 yards per game and 27th in passing with just 197.58 yards average through the air.

The Cardinals have been awful with Beanie Wells averaging 2.4 yards per carry and LaRod Stephens-Howling averaging 3.4 yards per carry. One of the best in the business is being wasted – Larry Fitzgerald has 56 catches and four touchdowns, Andre Roberts has 50 catches and five touchdowns, and Rob Housler has 36 catches. They are bad but could be a tad better if Mr. Kolb is able to play.

Defensively the Cards have actually been OK. They allow just 19.50 points per game (7th), they are 3rd against the pass (196 yards per game allowed) and they are 24th versus the run. Arizona’s defense has held them in some games but there is only so much that they can do! How about a little support?

The Seattle Seahawks have steadily improved this season. No longer are they a one-dimensional offense. Rookie QB Russell Wilson has evolved, the running game has continued to shine and the Seahawks defense has remained one of the best units in football all season long. At home the Hawks are very tough – just ask Dallas, New England and Green Bay!

Seattle enters Sunday’s game with the 30th ranked passing game but ever-improving. Russell Wilson has completed 63.4 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions and he has rushed for 298 yards. Sidney Rice has 43 tackles and seven touchdowns, Golden Tate has 35 catches and seven touchdowns, and Zach Miller has 28 catches. No longer is the passing game a glaring weakness on the team – Wilson did go for 280+ yards and two scores last week against the Bears. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Seattle still owns the 7th best running game in the NFL – the rushers are still the centerpiece of the offense. Even Russell Wilson is a threat to score each and every time he touches the ball. Marshawn Lynch is averaging 4.6 yards per carry with six touchdowns and he has caught 18 passes out of the backfield.

Defensively, Seattle has remained a top unit all season long – they are a huge mismatch for the Arizona offense! Seattle owns the 5th best pass defense and the 12th ranked rush defense and they surrender just 16.83 points per game – 3rd in the NFL.

Betting Prediction

• The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Arizona’s last 7 games on the road
• The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Arizona’s last 6 games when playing on the road against Seattle
• The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Arizona’s last 8 games
• Arizona is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games when playing Seattle
• Seattle is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
• The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Seattle’s last 6 games when playing at home against Arizona
• The total has gone OVER in 4 of Seattle’s last 5 games
• Seattle is 7-2 SU in its last 9 games when playing at home against Arizona

Double digit spreads always scare me – especially in division games! The same holds true here. This should be a very low scoring game with the Hawks emerging victorious. But I see a 20-13 score in this one. Seattle wins but the Cardinals cover the 10 points.

Pick: Arizona Cardinals +10
