Arizona Cardinals 2015 Gambling Odds & Handicapping Preview

2015 Arizona Predictions

The Arizona Cardinals enter the 2015-16 NFL Season looking to make up for a terrible finish to their 2014-15 campaign. Despite starting 9-1, this group went on to finish just 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that’s a 2-4 finish — a finish due to the loss of both Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton to the injury bug.

NFL Futures

2014 Record: 11-5 – Cardinals
Cardinals Odds to win the 2016 NFC West Division: +400
Cardinals Odds to win the 2016 NFC Conference: 12/1
Cardinals Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 25/1
Let’s take a look at the numbers:

Overall, this team is in good position to make up for its poor finish last season. Health is, of course, going to be a factor, but on paper, this group looks solid.

Numerous moves this offseason and a healthy Carson Palmer could not only help this team reach the postseason, but make them legitimate Super Bowl contenders. This group has gotten the attention of NFL futures betters the past few seasons, and there’s a chance we see all that hype come to fruition.

Offensively, Palmer is the guy who will determine whether or contender status actually comes to fruition. Larry Fitzgerald is a major asset on that side of the field, and Michael Floyd and John Brown also combine to create major potential for production, but as we saw last season, a healthy and productive Palmer is going to be Step 1 and 1B to finding succecss.

On the ground, the running game is a question mark that could potentially be the true difference maker (assuming Palmer is healthy) when it comes to competing for a division title. Andre Ellington has worlds of potential, but at 26 years old, he’s already proven to be difficult to count on because of injuries.

On the line, the Cards signed Mike Iupati. He and tackle DJ Humphries (first-round draft pick) will look to not only protect Palmer, but also open up the running game.

Defensively, this group will look to stay competitive despite the losses of Darnell Dockett, Antonio Cromartie and Dan Williams. Along with those departures, Arizona is also dealing with the loss of defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

Cardinals Betting Outlook:

Unless this team can start with as much conviction as it did in 2014-15, we should see a bit of a dip from the 11-win record we saw last season. ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss has predicted nine wins on the year, and that’s what I see as well.

Simply put: This division is the Seattle Seahawks’ to lose. And unless something bizarre happens in the Pacific Northwest, this team from the desert will be a couple wins behind them in the standings when the regular season comes to a close.
