2015 Cleveland Browns Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

2015 NFL Football- Browns Analysis

The Browns started off last season with hometown hero Brian Hoyer. Hoyer looked dominant at times and showed that perhaps the Browns could be contenders. After a couple weeks of struggles, the Browns pulled the plug rather quickly and turned to rookie Johnny Manziel.

The Manziel experiment failed and Cleveland went into a downward spiral.

Browns Odds

Browns Odds to Win the 2016 Super Bowl: 75/1
Browns Odds to Win the 2015-16 AFC North: +900
Browns Odds to Win the 2015-16 AFC Conference: 40/1

After pushing Hoyer out of town, Cleveland now will turn to Josh McCown, who was signed to a 3 year deal. McCown will try to succeed with a mediocre offense around him. On his heels, he’ll have Johnny Manziel, who is still waiting for a full chance and not just randomly being put into a game.

Here is a breakdown of their 2015 schedule with predictions:

Week 1: Sun. Sept. 13 at New York (Jets), 1:00 p.m. on CBS

In an identical matchup, both teams have extremely good defenses, but so many questions on offense. The key here will be home field advantage along with McCown trying to settle in to a pressure situation.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Jets rushing attack behind Chris Ivory will be the difference here as Cleveland goes to 0-1 to start the season.

Week 2: Sun. Sept. 20 vs. Tennessee, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

These two teams met in Tennessee last season and the Titans raced out to a giant lead. QB Brian Hoyer led the charge in the biggest comeback in Browns’ history.
Now the Browns get them for their home opener and McCown should be settled in much better than Week 1.

Behind their sold out passionate fans for the home opener, Cleveland wins for the 2nd straight  year in Cleveland to start the season and goes to 1-1.

Week 3: Sun. Sept. 27 vs. Oakland, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

This is one of the few cases here where Cleveland is MUCH better than their opponent.

Oakland travels across the country to come here and will more than likely leave a loser here. Their offense is just of a mess as their defense and this will be a game that the Browns offense can use to build that chemistry with their entire new weapons.

Cleveland goes to 2-1 and the optimism starts to get going within the fan base.

Week 4: Sun. Oct. 4 at San Diego, 4:05 p.m. on CBS

The Browns get the task this time to travel across to the west coast to take on Philip Rivers and the Chargers. The Browns have won just one of five on the west coast.
The Chargers offense is just too much for the Browns to overcome as Cleveland falls to 2-2 here.

Week 5: Sun. Oct. 11 at Baltimore, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

Baltimore and Cleveland renew their rivalry in Week 5. Cleveland nearly upset the Ravens in the final week of the regular season last week to ruin their chance at a playoff spot.

However, Baltimore’s Justin Forsett has really made his name known after the Ray Rice debacle and has become such a potent rusher.

Him and Flacco are just too much for Cleveland as the Browns get dropped on the road here to fall back under .500 at 2-3.

Week 6: Sun. Oct. 18 vs. Denver, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

Cleveland does luck out and gets Peyton Manning and the Broncos at home. Their best bet here is that there is a blizzard on October 18th.

Only the weather conditions can likely stop Manning as he will pick apart the secondary of the Browns.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Broncos roll in Cleveland as the Browns fall to 2-4.

Week 7: Sun. Oct. 25 at St. Louis, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

The Rams proved last season they were no pushover. They traded for Nick Foles in the offseason and he’ll try to adapt to the slow paced offense of the Rams.
By Week 7, Foles should be settled in and ready to go with his new offense.

He proved last year he has the potential to be a franchise QB. The Rams win here and Cleveland drops to 2-5.

Week 8: Sun. Nov. 1 vs. Arizona, 1:00 p.m. on FOX

In desperate need of a win, Cleveland gets a chance at the Cardinals at home in Week 8. A loss here, and Cleveland will likely be calling for Manziel, if they haven’t already.

The Browns should be able to outmuscle and beat Arizona in Cleveland.

The Browns move to 3-5.

Week 9: Thurs. Nov. 5 at Cincinnati, 8:25 p.m. on NFLN

Last time these two met on Thursday Night Football, the Browns went into Cincinnati and embarrassed them in front of the national audience.

Andy Dalton had one of his worst games of his career and will likely be seeking a bit of revenge.

The Bengals get that revenge and come away with a win putting Cleveland at 3-6.

Week 10: Sun. Nov. 15 at Pittsburgh, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

Cleveland always seems to get up for games against the Steelers. However, winning in Pittsburgh is rare for the Browns. They nearly stunned Pittsburgh last year, but a late field goal sealed the deal.

The Steelers are just too much at home and Cleveland falls to 3-7.

Week 11: BYE WEEK

Week 12: Mon. Nov. 30 vs. Baltimore, 8:30 p.m. on ESPN

Regardless of the Browns’ record here, with Monday Night Football in town, Cleveland will be Rocking. The Browns will surely get up for this game and we could potentially have Johnny Manziel even starting here. Cleveland grabs a primetime win to move to 4-7.

Week 13: Sun. Dec. 6 vs. Cincinnati, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

They’ll get their 4th game in a row against a divisional opponent, which is never fun. They at least get to stay at home for consecutive weeks which will help the Browns cause.

After grabbing a ton of momentum from their win over Baltimore, Cleveland puts a dent in the Bengals’ playoff hopes and grabs a home win to move to 5-7.

Week 14: Sun. Dec. 13 vs. San Francisco, 1:00 p.m. on FOX

San Francisco will likely be coming in from their nice 75 degree weather to freezing temps in Cleveland. This will cause them some early problems as they try to adapt, but they will be in a playoff race or seeding race and will need a win here.

Cleveland falls to 5-8.

Week 15: Sun. Dec. 20 at Seattle, 4:05 p.m. on FOX

The Seahawks, at home, in the thick of a playoff race. No question here as Lynch and Wilson pick apart Cleveland.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Browns drop to 5-9.

Week 16: Sun. Dec. 27 at Kansas City, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

The Chiefs proved last season that they were a dominant home team. They beat good and bad teams, it really didn’t matter who traveled to KC.
The Chiefs grab a win and send the Browns to 5-10.

Week 17: Sun. Jan. 3 vs. Pittsburgh, 1:00 p.m. on CBS

The Browns will have nothing but the spoiler role once again, but that won’t stop Cleveland from being crazy in this one. IF the Steelers are working on a playoff spot, the Browns will treat this like their Super Bowl.

Ultimately, Pittsburgh is just too much and Cleveland closes the season at 5-11.
