Dave B’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 4

NFL Power Rankings – Where Every Team Sits After Week 3

Week 3 of the NFL season is officially behind us and what a week it was! A number of teams remain perfect on the season and have subsequently climbed up the Rankings at a rapid pace while some of the early season favorites are definitely struggling (Cough! Cough – 49ers).

For the first week this year there has been a major shake-up in the top 10 although the #1 and #2 teams remain the same.

So let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Dave B’s Power Rankings.

1. SEAHAWKS (Last Week: 1)

Seattle, despite playing the worst team in the NFL surely doesn’t deserve to lose their place at the top of the standings. Russell Wilson was a beast in Week 3 with Sidney Rice and Zach Miller the beneficiaries. The Hawks defense is on a different level and the offense is quickly catching up. Seattle is easily the best in the NFC and #1 in the Rankings this week.

2. BRONCOS (Last Week: 2)

What the Hawks are to the NFC the Broncos are to the AFC – head and shoulders above the rest. They can beat you in so many ways and with Peyton Manning looking like the MVP it is hard to imagine the Broncos not representing the AFC in the Super Bowl.

3. BEARS (Last Week: 5)

There is absolutely no arguing with a 3-0 record. The defense is scoring, Jay Cutler is taking care of the ball and the running game is doing its part. They already have a two game lead in the AFC North and are looking like the class of their division already.

4. SAINTS (Last Week: 6)

Defense, Defense! I said it last week and I will say it again. Defense is the biggest difference on this team. With Drew Brees absolutely guaranteed 300+ yards passing each week and Jimmy Graham absolutely dominating there is no reason the Saints won’t remain top 5 all year. Now if the running game would figure itself out!

5. CHIEFS (Last Week: 10)

3-0 and still haven’t committed a turnover. They made it look fairly easy against the Eagles in Philadelphia Thursday night – impressive! Andy Reid has re-incarnated faith in KC and has woken up a defense that had been a sore spot in years past. It may not last but the Chiefs are looking mighty impressive!

6. DOLPHINS (Last Week: 7)

The just keep getting it done despite a serious lack of love from most “experts”. Ryan Tannehill is looking like the real deal and Miami’s defense is looking like a top 5 unit. Like the Chiefs, I have no idea how long it will last but there is no doubt that the Fins belong in the Top 10!

7. PATRIOTS (Last Week: 8)

Solid but unspectacular the Pats are 3-0 and they are close to getting Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola back from injury. Never doubt Brady and Belichek – never!

8. COLTS (Last Week: 14)

Absolutely destroyed San Francisco on the road in Week 3 – thus the huge jump in the Rankings. The discovery of a running game certainly doesn’t hurt either. Luck and Richardson could be magical this year and Ahmad Bradshaw looked rejuvenated.

9. BENGALS (Last Week: 12)

What a game against Green Bay last week! They certainly showed some resiliency and won a shootout despite AJ Green being relatively silent. Cincinnati will take a lot of good things from their Week 3 win and land in the Top 10 because of it. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

10. COWBOYS (Last Week: 13)

Dallas with a running game? You have to be kidding me. With a 2-1 record they have control of the NFC East. Their spot in the Top 10 relies solely on the health of DeMarco Murray – he is a difference maker when healthy and playing well.

11. RAVENS (Last Week: 17)

The Ravens beat a good Houston team without Ray Rice in a game that the defense looked back to 2010 form. I wasn’t sure this team could gel quickly with a lot of new pieces but a 21 point win in Week 3 proves that they definitely could.

12. TEXANS (Last Week: 4)

Not sure what to make of this team – Matt Schaub has thrown a pick-6 in all 3 of Houston’s games so far and now they are dealing with another injury to Andre Johnson. The games they’ve won, they’ve barely won and the game they lost they got blown out. At 2-1 Houston’s on a top 12 spot is tenuous at best!

13. 49ERS (Last Week: 3)
14. FALCONS (Last Week: 9)
15. PACKERS (Last Week: 11)
16. TITANS (Last Week: 18)
17. LIONS (Last Week: 19)
18. JETS (Last Week: 27)
19. CHARGERS (Last Week: 15)
20. EAGLES (Last Week: 16)
21. CARDINALS (Last Week: 21)
22. RAMS (Last Week: 20)
23. PANTHERS (Last Week: 28)
24. STEELERS (Last Week: 26)
25. BROWNS (Last Week: 31)
26. REDSKINS (Last Week: 23)
27. BILLS (Last Week: 25)
28. GIANTS (Last Week 22)
29. VIKINGS (Last Week: 24)
30. RAIDERS (Last Week 30)
31. BUCCANEERS (Last Week: 29)
32. JAGUARS (Last Week: 32)
