2011 Regular Season Opponents

Mon, Sept. 12 NEW ENGLAND Two AFC East rivals set the tone for the season’s Monday nighters in the first week of the regular season; Miami’s stout defense must live up to its billing if the Dolphins want to start 2011 with a victory.

Sun, Sept. 18 HOUSTON In Miami WR Brandon Marshall and Houston WR Andre Johnson, two of the most purely gifted wideouts in the league will square off in Week 2.

Sun, Sept. 25 @ Cleveland With the duo of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, Miami deploys an effective RB tandem, but neither are as dominant as Peyton Hillis, Cleveland’s new Madden cover poster-boy.

Sun, Oct. 2 @ San Diego The beautiful southern California weather should be mitigated by the tidal wave of offense the Dolphins must contend with in the Chargers’ attack.

Sun, Oct. 9 BYE

Mon, Oct. 17 Miami’s second divisional MNF appearance pits Miami’s strong defense against ascending young pivot Mark Sanchez and the talented yet workmanlike Jets. There is indeed no love lost between these two clubs.

Sun, Oct. 23 DENVER When Marshall left the Broncos a couple seasons ago, the relations were chilly between the team and the temperamental WR. Marshall surely relishes any opportunity to show up his former employer.

Sun, Oct. 30 @ New York Giants The G-Men have the defensive speed, the receiver depth and the QB experience to leave you sulking in the loss column. To win this road game, Miami will probably have to find some quarterbacking of their own, from somewhere.

Sun, Nov. 6 @ Kansas City It will be a question of lateral quickness for the Dolphins “D” when they travel to Arrowhead Stadium in early November. Whether it is offense or special teams, the Chiefs are capable of striking in a hurry.

Sun, Nov. 13 WASHINGTON This could certainly be a low-scoring affair.

Sun, Nov. 20 BUFFALO While the Bills are unquestionably sucking the hind teat in the AFC East, that doesn’t mean the Dolphins can get caught napping. Miami QB Chad Henne (or whoever is under center) can’t make too many mistakes downfield in this one.

Thurs, Nov. 24 @ Dallas Looks like Thanksgiving will be spent in Dallas’ airplane hangar of a stadium. Don’t they say everything is bigger in Texas?

Sun, Dec. 4 OAKLAND Miami finished seventh in the NFL at bottling up the run in 2010, which is a good thing, with the Raiders coming to Dade County.

Sun, Dec. 11 PHILADELPHIA Network TV would have you believe that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, though it is probably more accurate when the Eagles take to the road in Miami. All the vitamin D in the world won’t make a difference if Mike Vick and Company lights up the Dolphins’ secondary.

Sun, Dec. 18 @ Buffalo It is a massive homefield advantage at Ralph Wilson when the wind and the weather gets nasty, and the Bills’ conservative gameplan often tends to play into those variables.

Sat, Dec. 24 @ New England The Dolphins earn their Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with consecutive weeks in cold climates against divisional foes.

Sun, Jan. 1 NEW YORK JETS Thanks to Rex Ryan, we know the Jets are pushing for nothing short of a Super Bowl; the Dolphins are also fielding a respectable team, but surely have more question marks looming than their Meadowlands opponents.
