NFL Week 12 Preview

Week 12 of the 2010-11 NFL season will kick off with three tasty Turkey Day match ups. My pick for Game of the Week is the Packers at Atlanta. Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings versus Matt Ryan and Roddy White. Which duo has a better connection at the moment?

Here I take a look at all of this week’s matchups, giving you some early insight that will help make your 2010 NFL wagers winners.

THU, NOV 25 TIME (ET)

New England at Detroit 12:30 PM CBS – Let the festivities begin with a delectable game. I mean what would Thanksgiving Day football be without the Lions? Can the Pats’ secondary keep WR Calvin Johnson in check? Although this one might seem a turkey, the Lions shouldn’t be overlooked at home.

New Orleans at Dallas 4:15 PM FOX – These two teams met last season in New Orleans as Dallas handed the Saints its first loss of 2009. It will be the second home game in five days for the Cowboys who will look for its third win in a row after dropping five straight. The Saints will score we know, but can the ‘Boys hang with them? I think they come up short.

Cincinnati at NY Jets 8:20 PM NFL – The last entrée to the Thanksgiving merriment as the Bengals and Jets battle it out in the new Meadowlands. This will be a true test for Cincinnati’s over rated and underachieving receiving squad as they square off against the No. 1 pass defense in the NFL.

SUN, NOV 28 TIME (ET)

Green Bay at Atlanta 1:00 PM FOX –Two of the league’s top-flight quarterbacks will face off in this one, and they won’t have it easy as they face two very talented defenses. However, both QBs are fearless, so I expect them to rough up both defenses with Atlanta edging out the win at home.

Pittsburgh at Buffalo 1:00 PM CBS – The Bills are playing its best football thus far and have played well all season despite the lack of wins. Buffalo will want to keep what is likely to be a soggy football on the ground, and run right at the Steel Curtain who in turn will want to exploit a Bills defense that has allowed 160 yards a game on the ground. Steelers should grab an important win on the road.

Philadelphia at Chicago 1:00 PM FOX – On Nov 28, 1930, it dipped to three degrees in Chicago, and the Philly’s will try to freeze the Bear’s current three game win streak as their secondary ices Cutler in this one.

Carolina at Cleveland 1:00 PM FOX –Carolina has been awful this season and its entire offense has been decimated by injuries throughout the year. The Browns have played good football especially defensively most of the season, and it’s hard to imagine the Panthers winning one at the Pound.

Jacksonville at NY Giants 1:00 PM CBS –The Jags have been silent winners for most of the season, but have raised some noise winning its last three. The Giants desperately need to rebound after falling to two division rivals the past two weeks, but Jacksonville will be no cupcake. It’s tough to pick the road team in this one as the G-Men offensively outweigh the Jags. CLICK HERE TO JOIN BETED TODAY – SIGN-UP NOW! ——->

Minnesota at Washington 1:00 PM FOX –After being embarrassed by the Eagles, the Redskins eked out an overtime win in the Smokey Mountains and now they get an early Christmas gift as they host a Minnesota team that seems to be falling apart. Can new head coach Leslie Frazier turn the Vikings around? If Adrian Peterson has a big day — maybe.

Tampa Bay at Baltimore 1:00 PM FOX – Buc’s QB Josh Freeman will have nowhere to hide when the Ravens defense comes to find him. But in all fairness, Tampa has been a surprise, improving game after game. The Ravens haven’t quite clicked as well as I thought they would, but they too are steadily improving. I like Baltimore at home.

Tennessee at Houston 1:00 PM CBS – An important divisional game here as these two teams are locked in a fierce battle for the number three spot in the division. Of the two, Houston has played better in the recent weeks, and the offense and injuries have improved while the Titans were hit with the injury bug, losing both QBs.  Texans pick up the win.

Kansas City at Seattle 4:05 PM CBS – If the Chiefs think Arrowhead is loud, than they obviously don’t remember the Kingdome –enter Qwest Field. KC took care of business against the Cardinals at home, while the Seahawks was dominated on the road against the Saints. The Chiefs offense has shown more balance recently, so I look for them to take this one.

Miami at Oakland 4:05 PM CBS – The Fins are coming off an extended 10-day rest after being shut out against Chicago at home, so it will be interesting to see how they come out. Oakland’s streak ended with a loss at Heinz field, but I look for RB Darren McFadden to shred the Dolphins defense, as he has been one of the leading rushers in the game this season

St. Louis at Denver 4:15 PM FOX –The Rams have shown they have what it takes to get back to the top of the NFC West. The Broncos just got stomped on the road against San Diego. What’s up with Josh McDaniels anyway? Ram’s QB Sam Bradford will have 10 games under his belt, and along with RB Stephen Jackson could take advantage of a Denver rushing defense that ranks 31st. Rams by three.

San Diego at Indianapolis 8:20 PM NBC – Is the Chargers three-game win streak the turning point to another AFC West championship? I’m not sure, but I do know Philip Rivers has played at an MVP level all season long. That has to be good for something, right? Now the Bolts face the Colts who are coming off a devastating loss to the Patriots in a game where Manning tossed three interceptions. Now he will face the NFL’s No. 1 pass defense. Bolts over Colts.

MON, NOV 29 TIME (ET)

San Francisco at Arizona 8:30 PM –Both teams are playing terrible and the Niners may be the worst of the two after being shut out by Tampa Bay at home. In a division game on Monday night, the safer bet is the Cardinals at home.
