Miami hasn’t scheduled to badly. After beating Oklahoma at home, it was fortuitous that the ‘Canes could “come down” from that by playing tune-ups against Florida A&M and Central Florida. Clemson is one of those teams that has a number of great athletes, but has just not been able to translate that to success on the field, although they have covered four out of six in the college football sportsbook odds.

Clemson Tigers has two offensive weapons who will be among the first players drafted at their respective positions. Wide receiver Jacoby Ford is a speedster who can make the big play, but has only 26 receptions for 358 yards. Running back CJ Spiller has averaged almost five yards a carry, and had two touchdowns in last week’s 38-3 win over Wake Forest.

Kyle Parker, the freshman quarterback, is still at about 50% completions, and he is the guy who really has to make some strides if this team is going to advance.

Miami quarterback Jacory Harris is one of the more exciting players at his position in college football. Ranked eighth in the country in passing efficiency, he’s 65% accurate and has thrown for 1518 yards, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. he has really matured under the tutelage and aggressive offensive game-planning of coordinator Mark Whipple.

Miami Hurricanes has played against a number of capable teams, and Harris has stood in there with as much poise as any quarterback can be expected to. If there is a problem, maybe it’s that he sometimes stands there too long. Harris has been sacked 12 times the last three weeks, including six at the hands of Central Florida last week.

If you have protection problems, Clemson isn’t necessary the team you want to be playing against when you’re looking to cover in that great big college football sportsbook. Between defensive ends Da’Quan Bowers and Ricky Sapp, they have one guy who is an all-conference selection and another who may be the first pass rusher drafted next year. They will get after the quarterback. Clemson also has DeAndre McDaniel, tied for the national lead in interceptions, as well as three seniors in the secondary. Add to this the potential special teams edges, with an explosive kick returner in Spiller (37-yard average, 2 TD’s) and punt returner Ford, not to mention kicker Richard Jackson (15 of 20 field goals), and Clemson is a more formidable foe than its record indicates.

This one could go to the wire. As such, we’re going to grab the points with Clemson, the five-point underdog in the BetUS college football sportsbook odds.
