Nittany Lions’ QB Daryll Clark passed for 175 yards and rushed for two touchdowns last week, helping Penn State to improve to 4-1 record.
“We just had a sense of urgency,” said quarterback Daryll Clark, “We were able to convert a lot of third downs and the running game improved tremendously. I was real excited to see that.”
However this weekend it might not as easy to run the ball for Penn State; Eastern Illinois has only allowed 2.7 yards per carry against in its first five games.
The Panthers, with a 4-1 record, rely on the QB Jake Christensen arm as he has thrown 11 TDs with just 3 picks so far in the season.
“He doesn’t make a lot of dumb mistakes (and neither) does their team,” Lions Coach Joe Paterno said of Christensen. “It looks as if he’s got complete control of that offensive football team.”
Penn State linebacker Sean Lee won’t play due to a sprained left, forcing Christensen to keep throwing.
College Football betting fans must keep in mind the Nittany Lions have won 19 straight non-conference home games and have outscored their two most recent Football Championship Subdivision (formerly known as Division 1-AA) opponents 103-13.
And the Panthers are 4-21 all-time against teams that from the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division 1-A).
My pick: The Lions won’t cover the spread.
