Oklahoma: The Week That Was

Since losing quarterback Sam Bradford in the season opener and a shocking 14-13 loss to BYU, the Sonners defense has recorded back-to-back shutouts and impressive victories. Bob Stoops hopes to have Bradford back this week as the quarterback is back at practice and competing in most of the drills. Without their Heisman Trophy winner Oklahoma still rolled Tulsa 45-0 as 18 point favorites last time out. The Sooners are coming off of a bye week.

Miami: The Week That Was

It was not a good week for the Miami Hurricanes. Favored by three on the road at Virginia Tech the Hurricanes got beat up losing 31-7. After two impressive wins against ranked opponents the Canes were only able to record 209 total yards. Quarterback Jacory Harris struggled going just 9-for-25 for 150 yards and no touchdowns. It certainly does not get any easier for Miami who are touchdown underdogs against an Oklahoma team that hammered them 51-13 the last time they met back in 2007.

The Week That Is:

Sam Bradford is obviously a huge question mark for the Sooners and if he was healthy you would certainly have to lay more than just a touchdown with Oklahoma. Luckily for the Sooners they have had 2 straight easy opponents as freshman quarterback Landry Jones has put up huge numbers going 43 of 69 for 622 yards and nine touchdowns in two easy wins.

Miami was embarrassed in last week’s loss and should be a motivated team looking to put that loss behind them. The good news for the Hurricanes is that they have covered four of the last five times out following the Hokies game. Miami will certainly need a much stronger effort out of Jacory Harris since no matter who is behind center the Sooners offense will be able to score points.

Oklahoma has really bounced back nicely from that shocking loss to BYU and once again looks like a top three team. Miami was exposed in a few areas last week and if they fall behind early, it will be tough to put up points against the Sooners defense playing as well as any unit in college football.
