Duke Blue Devils vs. Stanford Cardinal NCAA Preview & Free Pick

Week 2 Duke vs Stanford Predictions

Duke really impressed me last week with their throttling of Florida International last week.  I really liked FIU as an upset candidate  but they beat the Golden Panthers by 20 points in a game that might not have even been that close.

Saturday September 8
Stanford Stadium – Palo Alto, CA

Duke

Duke isn’t an ACC title contender but this team might be better than people think…maybe…its early.

Sean Renfree is another one of those unsung ACC QBs i keep writing about.  He was very sharp in the opener and is looking to put up another 3000 yard season.

When he tosses it he generally looks in the direction of Connor Vernon, who is only a few 190 yard days like he had last week away from being the all time Duke leading receiver.

Duke should be able to and probably will have to move the ball through the air.

Circumstances are such that this number may not be very sharp.  The combination of Duke looking good and Stanford looking bad may have created a perfect storm for bettors this weekend..on the Stanford side.

Personally I can almost never get behind the Blue Devils on the gridiron.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Stanford

Stanford was one of a handful of teams who really underwhelmed in the first week of the season.

Yes Andrew Luck has moved on but this program is really rocking right now to the point that eeking out a win against San Jose State is really unacceptable.  This is supposed to be the third best team in the PAC 12 this year.

A couple of lucky bounces could have them back in the BCS.

Without Luck the passing game was punchless against the Spartans.  Josh Nunes may have the job for now but if he doesn’t improve he won’t for very long.  Running back Stephan Taylor rushed for more than 100 yards behind a line that looks to have reloaded after heavy losses too.

I can’t wait to see Barry Sanders Jr take the field, if only for the nostalgia factor.  The offense should improve this week..it has to.

This could be a great buying opportunity on Stanford as last week’s performance probably brought the number down maybe 7 points or so.

I like them to be sharper and put on a game that will make Oregon and USC take notice…even if it only is Duke.

Last year they crushed them by 30 on the road they could win this by 21 easy.

Spread Pick:  Stanford -15
O/U Pick:  Over
Score Prediction:  Stanford 38 – Duke 21
