Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State Buckeyes, hey, we know what they are all about. They’ve won 23 consecutive games and will look to continue that streak. The Buckeyes have a very explosive offense and a defense that is statistically pretty good. The Buckeyes have scored 48 points this season which is third in the nation and their defense has only allowed 18.4 points per game which is 8th in points allowed.

The Buckeyes are led on offense by Braxton Miller. One of the more dynamic quarterbacks in the nation and halfback Carlos Hyde has been outstanding this year. Hyde has over 1,000 yards now and 13 rushing touchdowns. On defense, Ohio State is led by linebacker Ryan Shazier who leads the Big Ten with 108 tackles.

As a team, we’ve touched a bit on it already, but Ohio State has rushed for an outstanding 314.7 rushing yards, 216.2 passing yards, and 530.9 total yards. Overall, one of the best offenses in the nation.

Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines will look to the past hoping for a better future. The Wolverines have been put in this situation a few times in their past. Ohio State undefeated coming in and Michigan looking to play spoiler. The last time Michigan upended an undefeated Ohio State team was back in 1996.

In 1996, Ohio State came in as 17 point favorites, at home, versus the Michigan Wolverines and with a backup QB (Brian Griese) the Wolverines upset the Buckeyes 13-9. But, the one I want to talk about is the one in 1969.

In 1969, that year resembles this year pretty closely. In 1969, the Ohio State Buckeyes went into Ann Arbor as 15 point favorites and with a then school record 22 game winning streak.

Michigan punched them in the mouth early in the game and Michigan’s defense took over in the second half creating six turnovers and winning 24-12.

We’ll see if the 2013 Michigan Wolverines can repeat history and put themselves in the record books.

The Wolverines will need a big game from quarterback Devin Gardner. Gardner cannot turn the ball over and be the explosive star player he has shown in spurts this season. The inconsistent Michigan defense will need to play at their best.

Danny’s FREE College Football Pick:

All in all, I believe the only reason why the line is so close is because this is Ohio State-Michigan, this is one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports, and of course, this is in the Big House. I say put all that aside, and besides the home field advantage I wouldn’t factor any of that in the equation.

Ohio State is the better team and it’s not even close.

Ohio State is the more talented team, the better coached team, and this is one of the few games where the Buckeyes won’t take their foot off the gas. This is Michigan and they’ll look to really put it on them.

I like Ohio State in this game and I believe they cover the spread pretty easily.

Pick; Ohio State -14.5
Prediction: Ohio State 45 – Michigan 17
