The RedHawks (5-4, 4-4 ATS) have won two of their last three games both straight up and against the spread, including last week’s 21-9 victory at Buffalo (Miami was favored by 2.5 points). With a conference championship in sight, Miami can’t afford any slip ups now. That could be problematic as the weather turns worse, as the RedHawks have struggled to run the football; they’re averaging a pathetic 62.8 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Zac Dysert has had to carry the offense. He racked up 231 yards and a pair of scores against Buffalo, though he was also intercepted twice.

The lack of toughness running the ball is being mirrored on defense. The RedHawks are getting gouged for 140 yards per game on the ground, although they were very sharp at Buffalo. Miami held the Bulls to just 55 yards on 34 rushing attempts. The team is much better at stopping the pass. Miami is surrendering 219 yards per game through the air and tormented Buffalo with five sacks last week.

Bowling Green (2-7, 5-4 ATS) is suffering through a nightmare season. The Falcons won 17-14 at Central Michigan last week, snapping a five-game losing streak. The team hasn’t been very kind to college football betting fans, either; after winning their first three games against the spread, the Falcons have covered just twice in their last six games (though both came in the last three games).

Until last week’s effort against Central Michigan, Bowling Green had been terrible on defense, allowing at least 28 points in every game. The Falcons have been destroyed on the ground, surrendering over 200 yards per contest. They finally stopped the bleeding against the Chippewas, holding Central Michigan to 99 yards on 34 carries. Bowling Green also racked up six sacks after notching just seven through its first eight games.

Like Miami, the Falcons must rely on a solid passing game to counter an awful ground attack. Redshirt freshman Matt Schilz has done a solid job under center, leading the team to 233 yards per game through the air. He was shaky against Central Michigan, though, throwing for just 200 yards and getting picked off twice.

Both teams are susceptible to the run, though neither team is good enough to take advantage. That means the game will come down to the passing attack. Give the nod to Miami’s Dysert, who had a little more experience than Schilz. Don’t expect this game to be pretty, but the RedHawks should emerge with a one-touchdown victory.
