Free Pick: San Diego State vs. #23 North Carolina Gambling Lines & Handicapping Preview

Week #2:  SDSU vs UNC

College football betting action sees the San Diego State Aztecs taking on the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill and Kenan Stadium.  Cappers Picks provides free college football handicapping tips all season long.

Not a bad cross sectional battle on Saturday between the ACC and the MWC. North Carolina is a sleeper this year but they have to avoid their early season swoons to be a contender.

San Diego State

The Aztecs are expecting to be in the mix in the Mountain West this season.

They kicked off the rust with an easy win over Northern Arizona this week but they can put the rest of the league on notice if they can go across the country and win in Chapel Hill.

This team lost an awful lot from last year bowl winning team but they do have a senior quarterback in Quinn Kaehler and he has a nice outside threat in Ezell Ruffin.

They are going to have to connect for some big plays to keep this one close.

San Diego State is a respectable program but they have only one win over a Power 5 school over the last 10 season (Washington State in 2011). They are getting a ton of points in this one which means they do not have to put too many on the board to make you into a winner.

The key will be being able to get Pumphrey going in the running game again. Take some air out of the UNC offense.

North  Carolina

I am very high on North Carolina this season. This is not there best team talent wise but they have the QB situation figured out probably better than anyone else in the ACC Coastal right now and after what we saw of Miami against Louisville the division is definitely there for the taking this season.

The offense will be really strong but if they can use these early games to build up the defense they will be in a really good spot. They do have a really tough schedule though and need to nail down this one.

One thing that worries me about UNC is that they have been slow starters under coach Larry Fedora. In year 1 they started 1-2 and last year they started 1-5 including an embarrassing home loss to ECU.

It just so happens that the Pirates are next on the schedule but with a week off before they go up to Greenville this team should not be looking to far head.

Once this team got rolling they were 5-1 ATS down the stretch including a bowl whipping on Cincinnati.

NCAA Football Week 2 Prediction:  4* Free Play on San Diego State +15.5

NCAAF Score prediction:  North Carolina 35 – San Diego State 24

UNC will not lose but the line for this one is just a little too high for my liking and a little bit odd in terms of number – might as well be 17. Go with the underdogs and watch them representa fairly well on the cover.
