Iowa St. Cyclones vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders Gambling Prediction & Week 7 Preview

Iowa State vs. Texas Tech College Football Spread/Handicapping

The Iowa State Cyclones are looking to get off the mat after a close and controversial loss to Texas a couple of weeks ago. They are not likely to be a factor in the B12 race this season but they could put certainly a dent in someone else’s chances by grabbing a game somewhere.

So far Texas Tech has been perfect even if they did get a little scare last week against Kansas.

I do mean little as even though they were down 10-0 to the Jayhawks they rattled off the next 54 points to win easily on the road.

Iowa State

It feels like Iowa State is always good for one victory per season that no one saw coming. On the road against an undefeated like Texas Tech feels like it could be the one as it seems they move it around and I don’t think the Red Raiders have ever been the victim (Texas and Oklahoma State most recently).

The Cyclones are pretty middle of the road this season lacking some of the playmakers they have had on offense and especially on defense in the past. Sophomore QB Sam Richardson has taken the job and run with it this season which makes the future for the Cyclones brighter.

Maybe he begins the legend on Saturday as the Cyclonse rip through Lubbock. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Texas Tech

The Red Raiders should get off to a better start at home against a not so good Iowa State team this week. They have this game and another one next week against struggling West Virginia to really push their record before closing against the top contenders in the conference which is when we will see what they are really made of.

This week QB Baker Mayfield is not expected to start due to a sore knee.

That means freshman Davis Webb gets the call. He was the guy expected to get the job at the start of the season and has been pretty good when called up this season. He is the better athlete with the bigger arms but he lost the battle in the summer for a reason.

Maybe he creates a controversy with a strong win over the Cyclones.

Finally, I don’t want to declare the Red Raiders as having a great defense but they are giving up only 14 points per game. Iowa state will be challenged to top that with the team they have this year though they sprung for 30 against Texas the last time out.

Spread Pick: Texas Tech -14.5
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Texas Tech 49 – Iowa state 20
