Horned Frogs vs. Sooners Gambling Prediction & Week 6 Preview

TCU vs Oklahoma College Football Spread/Handicapping

TCU has really disappointed me this year so I have to be careful from here on out. I thought they were a legitimate contender for the Big 12 crown (maybe even BCS sleeper) but with their losses already they aren’t looking too hot to win anything.

Only one of those losses was in conference so this game against Oklahoma is huge for them. A win could put them in the conversation but a loss and they are essentially eliminated.

Meanwhile, an Oklahoma team that was thought to be down in 2013 has handled all comers so far this season and looked very good doing so including last week’s win over Notre Dame. Up next for the Sooners is Texas so they need to keep their eye on the prize.

TCU

This is a huge game for the Horned Frogs who have not gotten off to the start they were hoping for. In their last game they finally showed a little something but when you look more closely at the box score you can see that their final two TDs came on defence and special teams.

With QB Casey Pachall still out with injury his backup Trevone Boykin appears to be getting more comfortable. He can be a blur with the ball in his hands but last time out against SMU he was effective throwing the ball. He is never going to be as efficient as Pachall and his mechanics aren’t always great but he is a playmaker, the type that can make a difference in a game like this. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

They are going to need that if they want to upset the Sooners, who they played close last year. The defense is good enough to make that happen if it plays to potential.

Oklahoma

Look out B12 because the Sooners seem to be getting better every week. Last week they went to Notre Dame and dominated the Fighting Irish.

They flustered ND QB Tommy Rees into three interceptions and outgained the Irish by more than 100 yards for the game while also controlling the clock with more than 200 yards on the ground.

The defense is looking better and better after holding Rees to a season low yardage but they need to be a better job against the run. There were a few holes including the one George Atkinson slipped through on an 80 yard TD run. Other than that play they kept things pretty tight and will need to be sharp against TCU who prefers to move the ball on the ground.

Oklahoma has the Red River Rivalry next week so it is possible they are looking ahead. If so the Frogs will make Saturday very painful.
