UTEP Miners vs. Texas A+M Aggies Gambling Prediction & Week 10 Preview

Texas El-Paso vs Texas A&M College Football Spread/Handicapping

This game is a total mismatch and perhaps the only interesting thing about it is that the Miners starting quarterback Jameill Showers started his career in College Station. He was the backup to Johnny Football last year but transferred out of there when it was obvious he wasn’t going to play.

UTEP is one of the worst teams in the country and the Aggies are among the best so this one should not be much of a game after halftime.

UTEP

About the only thing the UTEP Miners have going for them heading into this one is that they are 1-0 against teams named the Aggies this season – they beat New Mexico State back in September.

Under previous regimes there was some decent passing play at UTEP but this season they are more effective running the ball. They average better than 200 yards per game on the ground and their leading rusher is just a freshman.

RB Aaron Jones can be a blur at 5’10 and just 175 pounds but he rips off more than 5 yards per carry.

On defense they give up a ton of yards and a ton of points – 38ppg to be exact. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The most the Miners can hope for is that Showers is geeked up for this game and does enough to help them cover that ridiculous 46.5 point spread.

Texas A&M

Once the Texas A&M Aggies dropped their second game they immediately dropped from the national conversation. Sure Johnny Manziel might be a Heisman candidate but that loss to Auburn really stung and now the best they can hope for is to play spoiler down the stretch…and what a fun spoiler they could be.

A&M is 3rd in the nation in yards and 4th in points scored. Manziel is having a terrific follow up to last year’s spectacular season but without a signature win and way less yards on the ground he is in his own shadow so to speak.

It might sound odd but his top receiver Mike Evans might actually be a better candidate for the honour. With a month to go Evans has already eclipsed 1100 yards receiving and is doing it by averaging a staggering 22 yards per reception. He is second in the nation in yards and most of the time he seems uncoverable with his 6’5” frame.

However, despite all that offensive firepower the reason for the Aggies struggles has been their defense – which is terrible. They are ranked in the 100 in all categories and in their two losses they have given up 49 and 45 points.

That probably won’t matter much this week.
