They’re 14-point underdogs, but by all accounts, we should be looking at a high-scoring affair from both teams in Week 12.

Oregon State

The Beavers had a chance to relax and get healthy last weekend, but a mental rest may have been even more necessary. The team is coming off of two tough losses at home—one to the Stanford Cardinal and the other to the USC Trojans—and they needed time to forget about the losses, seeing as they were only their second and third on the entire season.

At this point, what we’ve seen so far from the Beavers is what you’re going to get in Week 12. If their passing attack is on, you’ve got a contender. If it’s off, the Beavs are pretty much stuck. They’re not going to automatically become a rushing-oriented offense, but what they can do is put up serious points with quarterback Sean Mannion and wide receiver Brandin Cooks leading the way.

So far on the year, Mannion has completed the most yards through the air of any quarterback. The team is second in passing yards per game, and it is scoring 37.2 points per contest as a result. Unfortunately, they’re 47th in passing defense, which is going to play a huge role in the outcome of this matchup.

Arizona State

Like the Beavers, Arizona State’s passing game dominates its offensive attack. They may not be second in the nation in passing, but they have tossed for 304.8 yards per game, which puts them at 18th in the entire FBS.

Unlike Oregon State, the Sun Devils have done a fantastic job of defending the pass. The Beavers have shown that they can make big plays in the secondary with timely interceptions, but as a whole, ASU has defended the pass more consistently. The Sun Devils are 10th in the nation in passing yards allowed, and if anyone left on OSU’s schedule can force them to the ground, it’s this ASU team right here.

Standout defender Will Sutton will look to have a big game against Oregon State. The Beavers are hardly known as bruisers by most football fans, and Sutton will look to impose his will when entering the backfield.

ASU is a 14-point favorite, and while that may seem high against a Beavers team that started strongly and can kill you through the air, you’re looking at a Sun Devils squad that is fighting for a chance to make its first appearance in a Pac-12 title game.

Oregon State will put points on the board, it just won’t be enough to make this one interesting late.

Prediction: Arizona State 48 – Oregon State 33
