No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers Preview

The Buckeyes are just playing for bragging rights facing their hated rival in Wisconsin and if they run the table and go undefeated at least they can say they may have been the best team in the nation. NCAAF lines have Wisconsin as a 2.5-point home favorite with a total of 52.5.

In their last games Wisconsin crushed Indiana 62-14 and Ohio State had an easy time beating Illinois 55-22.

Ohio State is 5-5 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 6-4 and Wisconsin is also at 5-5 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 6-3.

The Badgers are mostly about the run with the nation’s 17th ranked rushing offense while they only rank 112th in the nation in passing yards per game. This is especially the case since starting QB Joel Stave is out for the season with an injury. In the Indiana rout QB Curt Phillips got the start, but only attempted 7 passes.

In the Indiana game the Badgers rushed for a whopping 564 yards with Montee Ball and James White each rushing for over 160 yards. That is the big match up in this game in Ball and White facing an Ohio State run defense that ranks 16th in the nation.

The Buckeyes are also a run oriented team, but duel threat QB Braxton Miller has passed for over 1,753 yards with 14 TD on the season and he has a couple of solid targets. Miller is also the leading rusher for Ohio State and is joined in the backfield by RB Carlos Hyde, who rushed for 137 yards in the win over Illinois.

Wisconsin has a solid run defense ranked 13th in the nation and they also have a solid pass defense ranked 34th.

Last season Miller threw a last second TD pas to beat the Badgers, so Wisconsin may have a little payback on their minds for this conference match up.

In some betting trends for this Big 10 game Ohio State is 27-10-1 ATS in their last 38 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous games, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Wisconsin is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, 13-5-1 ATS in their last 19 home games, and they have an Over record of 9-2 in their last 11 home games.

Ohio State has covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games facing Wisconsin.

Jason’s Pick: I am going with Wisconsin in this game, as they will run the ball well and play better run defense. Take the Badgers to win this game and while it will be close they will still cover the spread.
