The Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Louisville Cardinals in each team’s first game in Big East conference play this upcoming Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Cincinnati’s 2-3 start to the 2010 season both straight-up and against the spread has been a far cry from last year’s undefeated regular season run and conference title, but the Bearcats are 0-0 in conference play so this game is a perfect opportunity to begin their title defense with a win. Last week they mauled Miami (OH) 45-3, easily covering as a 19 ½ point home favorite.

The total stayed ‘under’ the 53 point line. The week before they gave No.6 Oklahoma all the Sooners could handle in a two point 31-29 loss as a 14 point home underdog.

The Bearcat’s offense has the ability to move the ball and put points on the board as they are averaging over 400 total yards of offense and close to 30 points a game. QB Zach Collaros has completed 63.2 percent of his passes for 1,180 yards and 12 TD’s. WR’s D.J Woods and Armon Binns have combined for 54 receptions for 839 yards and RB Isaiah Pead has 402 rushing yards on 41 carries.

The key matchup in this game will be Cincinnati’s high-powered offense going against a Cardinals defense that is ranked 32nd in the nation in total points allowed. NFL Betting

Louisville has to be happy with its 3-2 start SU and ATS after only winning four games all last season. The Cardinals are coming off a 56-0 shutout of Memphis last week in a game they were favored to win by 16 points at home. The week before, they knocked off Arkansas State 34-24 as a 6 ½ point road favorite.

Their toughest game to this point was a 35-28 loss to No.24 Oregon State as a 20 ½ point road underdog.

The Cardinals offense revolves around a rushing attack that is ranked 18th in the country. RB Bilal Powell has 689 yards and seven touchdowns on 91 carries this season. Victor Anderson is the team’s second leading rusher with 245 yards on 48 carries. Their passing game, led by QB Adam Froman has gained 1,217 yards and has nine TD’s.

Cincinnati is 6-4 SU in its last 10 games but just 2-8 ATS. The Bearcats are 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS in their last five road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in six on their last 10 games overall.

Louisville is 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS in its last 10 games. The Cardinals are 4-2 SU in their last six games at home and 2-4 ATS. The total has been evenly split over their last 10 games with five staying ‘under” and five going ‘over’.

Head to head, Louisville has won seven of the last 10 games SU and is 6-4 ATS. Cincinnati has won the last two meetings SU and ATS with a 41-10 win last year as a 16 point home favorite and a 28-20 victory in 2008 as a four-point road favorite.

This is a much better Louisville team going up against a Bearcat squad that has nowhere near the same level of talent as in 2009.

Cincinnati’s early struggles spill over into Big East play as it has trouble putting points on the board against the Cardinals stingy defense.
