This Saturday afternoon the Louisville Cardinals head out to the West Coast to take on the No. 25 Oregon State Beavers in a Big East- PAC 10 showdown.

Louisville (1-1) kicked off its 2010 season with a tough 23-16 loss to SEC foe Kentucky. The Cardinals were a three point home underdog in that game and the total stayed well ‘under’ the 48 point line. Last week as a 30 point home favorite, they squeaked by Eastern Kentucky 23-13 to get their first win of the year.

Cardinal QB Adam Froman has been less than spectacular his first two games, completing just 55.8 percent of his passes for 346 yards. Their leading receiver is Doug Beaumont, who has seven catches for 123 yards. The running game has been far more impressive, racking up 359 yards on 67 carries for a solid 5.4 yards per run average. RB Bilal Powell is the team’s leading rusher with 245 yards on 32 carries and three TD’s.

Oregon State took on Mountain West power TCU in its opener and hung tough against the Horned Frogs in a 30-21 defeat. The Beavers came into the game as a 13 ½ point underdog and covered the spread by 4 ½ points. The total went ‘over’ the 49 ½ point line. They were idle last week. NFL Betting

Beaver QB Ryan Katz had a miserable day against TCU, completing just nine of his 25 attempts for 159 yards. He did manage to throw two TD’s and zero interceptions, but for the most part it was not one of his best efforts. RB Jaqcquizz Rodgers had a very average day by his standards, gaining 75 yards on 18 carries. These two players will have something to prove against a much more porous Cardinal defense.

Louisville is 4-6 both straight up and against the spread in its last 10 games. The Cardinals are 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS in their last four road games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games, but has gone ‘over’ in three of their last four.

Oregon State is 6-4 SU in its last 10 games, but has lost its last three dating back to December of last year. ATS, the Beavers are 8-2 in their last 10 and 5-1 in their last six. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last 10 games including their last three.

These teams last played one another back in 2005 with Louisville coming away with a lopsided 63-27 win as a 13 ½ point favorite. Both these programs have gone in a different direction since then as Oregon State is the prohibitive favorite in this game. Take the Beavers to get back on track in a big way in their home opener.

Betting Trends:
Louisville is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Oregon State’s last 5 games
Louisville is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
Louisville is 5-14 SU in its last 19 games
Oregon State is 20-5 SU in its last 25 games at home
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Oregon State’s last 5 games at home
Oregon State is 15-7 SU in its last 22 games

The Pick: Oregon State – 19 ½
