The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will try and halt a three game skid when they take on the Cincinnati Bearcats this upcoming Saturday night at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, OH. in this Big East matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Rutgers season was sailing along until it began playing the meat of its conference schedule. Three losses later, the Scarlet Knights are left trying to salvage what is left of a promising season gone bad. Last week they fell to Syracuse 13-10 in a game they came in as a 2 ½ point home underdog. The total stayed well ‘under’ the 41 ½ point line. This loss dropped them to 4-5 straight-up for the year and 2-7 against the spread. Rutgers is currently 1-3 SU in Big East play.

The Scarlet Knights’ defense has remained fairly solid throughout the season with the exception of the 41 points it gave up to Pitt a few weeks back. It is ranked 21st in the nation in points allowed; giving up an average of 19.3 per game. The primary problem with this team has been its inability to consistently put points on the board. The Knights have averaged just 17 points per game in their five losses and are averaging just 20.6 points per game overall. WR/RB Mohamed Sanu is Rutgers’ most versatile player with 309 yards rushing and 398 yards receiving. NFL Betting

Cincinnati’s season has turned into an even bigger disaster than Rutgers. The Bearcats have also lost their last three games, including a 37-10 pasting by West Virginia last Saturday. They failed to cover as a five-point road underdog and the total stayed ‘under’ the 49 ½ point line. Cincinnati is now 3-6 both SU and ATS on the year after going undefeated in last year’s regular season. It is currently 1-3 SU in conference play.

The loss of a huge chuck of talent along with their head coach from last year’s team did not help the Bearcats cause heading into this season, but they have played much worse than expectations on both sides of the ball. The only area that has been somewhat productive is a passing offense that is averaging 262.8 yards per game. QB Zach Collaros has taken the majority of the snaps and has completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 2,139 yards and has 20 touchdown throws. WR Armon Binns leads the team in receptions with 57 for 826 yards. He also leads the team in touchdowns with nine.

Trends:

Rutgers is 1-2 both SU and ATS in its last three road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its last five games overall.
Cincinnati is 2-3 SU and ATS in its last five home games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of its last five games overall.

Head-to-head, Cincinnati has won the last four games SU and is 3-1 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of the last five meetings. Two years ago, the Bearcats won 13-10, but the Scarlet Knights covered as a seven-point road underdog. Last season the Bearcats rolled to an early season 47-15 victory as a 4 ½ point road underdog. Stick with the Scarlet Knights this time around as Cincinnati will struggle to win this game by more than 13 points.

The Pick: Rutgers +13
