The South Florida Bulls take on the Louisville Cardinals in a Big East matchup this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

South Florida has turned its season around with two big conference wins in past three weeks. The Bulls upended Cincinnati 38-30 on Oct. 23 in a game they were a 9 ½ point road underdog. The total went ‘over’ the 48 point line. Last Wednesday night in a primetime appearance on ESPN2, they knocked off Rutgers 28-27 but failed to cover as a 10 ½ point home favorite. The two wins have South Florida at 5-3 straight-up and 3-5 against the spread. The Bulls are 2-2 SU in Big East play.

Despite the fact that South Florida has given up 57 points in its last two games, its defense is still ranked 26th in the nation in points allowed; giving up an average of just 19.6 points per game. Offensively, the Bulls are finally starting to open things up. They have averaged 33 points in their last two games after averaging just 23.8 in their first six games. South Florida is averaging 149.4 yards per game on the ground, but its passing offense led by QB B.J. Daniels is averaging just 172.1 yards per game through the air. NFL Betting

Louisville is having one of its better seasons in recent memory. After winning just nine games the past two seasons combined, the Cardinals already won five games this season and still have a very good shot at qualifying for a bowl game with three games left on their schedule. They are coming off a big 28-20 victory over a much-improved Syracuse team last week; covering as a seven-point road underdog. The total went ‘over’ the 43 ½ point line. Louisville’s record is now 5-4 both SU and ATS, including going 2-2 SU in conference play.

Two of the main reasons for the turnaround is a stingy defense and a solid ground game. The Cardinals’ defense is giving up just 18.9 points per game, ranking it 19th in the country in points allowed. RB Bilal Powell leads a Louisville rushing attack that is ranked 28th in the nation; averaging 193.4 yards per game. Powell has rushed for 1,067 yards on 153 carries and leads the team with nine rushing touchdowns.

Betting Trends:

South Florida is 1-3 SU in its last four road games and 2-2 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of its last six games overall.
Louisville is 3-3 SU in its last six games at home and 2-4 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of its last 10 games overall.
Head-to-head, the Bulls have won four out of the last seven games SU and the Cardinals have a 4-3 advantage ATS. The home team has won the game SU all seven times and is 6-1 ATS.

This should be a good, hard-fought contest that has the makings of a defensive battle as both these teams have done a decent job of keeping their opponents off the scoreboard. The home team has the hot hand in this series so stick with the Cardinals to win by more than 1 ½ points.

The Pick: Louisville – 1 ½ and UNDER.
