Kentucky Wildcats 2015 NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Predictions

2015-16 Football Previews – (SEC) – Wildcats

It’s time for the 2015 Kentucky Wildcats season to open in less than a week. Kentucky took a giant step forward in 2014 and highlighted their season with a 5-1 start, including a win over South Carolina. However, the Wildcats couldn’t find their 6th win and failed to make a postseason appearance.

Head Coach: Mark Stoops
2014 Record: 5-7
Kentucky Odds to win SEC:

The Wildcats 5-2 start in 2014 had fans and players excited about what their future held. Unfortunately for them, Kentucky flopped the rest of the way and couldn’t find win number 6 to get them into a postseason bowl game.

The 5 wins was still a step in the right direction, but now getting to a bowl game in 2015 is the main goal.

Kentucky’s boosters and the university itself has at least shown they back the Wildcats as they began a process that costed roughly 150 million dollars to improve the football facilities.

From their stadium to the practice facilities and offices, the university has upgraded just about everything football related.

Now, it’s time for Stoops to get his team to show some results and rewarding the university with a post season appearance for all the hard work they’ve done is extremely important.

Team Strengths

QB Choices: The Wildcats offensively were a much improved team in 2014. Heading into the 2015 season, Mark Stoops needed to replace offensive coordinator Neal Brown.

Brown left for the heading coaching job at Troy after successfully turning around the Kentucky offense in 2014.

Stoops went out and hired another similar style offensive coordinator in Shannon Dawson.

Dawson comes in with two choices to work with at QB, 6-5 Patrick Towles and 6-2 Drew Barker.

Barker will likely be the backup as Towles produced 3000 yards of offense in 2014.

Solid Backfield: The Wildcats backfield is also going to be a superb one in 2015. Last season, Stanley Williams had 1159 all purpose yards and will have a much more developed Jojo Kemp behind him.

Kemp had a breakout game against South Carolina as he rushed for 3 touchdowns and 131 yards.

Team Weaknesses

Pressure to Perform: The pressure is extremely on Mark Stoops and his team.

As stated earlier, the football facilities were all upgraded with a 150 million dollar project. The boosters and school paid a lot of money for a 5-7 team.

They also gave the coaching staff major raises this past off season.

It’s time this season for the Wildcats to start producing some results. Kentucky has been a bottom tier team in the SEC for too long.

At the very least, Stoops needs to produce a winning record and a bowl appearance. If that doesn’t happen this season, the university might sit down and reconsider if Stoops is the right man for the job.

2015 Kentucky Prediction: 7-5

Finishing 0-6 down their stretch of the season in 2014 was a demoralizing feat. The Wildcats went from their 5-2 start and aspirations of making a splash at the top of the SEC East, to a losing season and no bowl appearance.

As mentioned earlier, the time to perform is now for the Wildcats.

Kentucky was in the top 40 of recruiting for the 3rd straight offseason. The Wildcats should find themselves a winning 2015 season.

A post season bowl appearance is likely bound for Stoops and company, which will keep the boosters and university extremely satisfied with their contributions to the facilities.
