It will be easy for Baylor to look past an injury-plagued Iowa State team, but after squeezing out a win at Kansas State in their last time out, the Bears will look to put their foot back on the gas pedal and blow out the Cyclones.

Baylor is coming off a season-low 451 yards against Kansas State after eclipsing 700 yards in each of their three previous games. That outing wasn’t enough to knock them off their perch though, as the team still ranks first in the nation in both total offense and scoring offense, with 715.4 yards and 63.4 points per game. Quarterback Bryce Petty’s 230.6 passer efficiency rating leads the nation.

He completed 13 of 22 passes for 342 yards and three scores against Kansas State, including a go-ahead 54-yard connection with receiver Tevin Reese in the fourth quarter. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Running back Lache Seastrunk garnered plenty of Heisman talk in the offseason and is backing up in the regular year – his 9.9 yards per carry average is tops in the nation, leading a Baylor rushing attack that’s ranked fourth in the nation with 301.2 yards per game.

The Baylor stop unit has quietly been very good as well, ranking 18th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only 18.0 points per game, and 25th in total defense, allowing 346.0 yards per game.

The Iowa State defense may not be in a position to put up much resistance as they deal with a variety of injuries. The unit allowed 666 yards to Texas Tech last week in a 42-35 road loss. The unit ranks last in the Big 12, allowing 447.6 yards per game, including over 200 per game on the ground. In their last outing, the defense allowed the Red Raiders to compile a season-high 251 rushing yards.

Quarterback Sam Richardson had a rough go of it in the team’s last game, completing just 15 of 38 passes for 168 yards and a score in his worst outing of the season.

34 points is certainly a lot to be giving away, but there’s little reason to expect anything but a strong performance from a Baylor team that will be extra motivated after a less than stellar effort last week.

Additionally, Iowa State is 0-5 ATS in their last five trips to Baylor. Nevertheless, expect Iowa State to get some points in a fairly one-sided affair. Baylor has outscored opponents 282-65 in four home games this season.

The over is 21-5 in the Bears’ last 26 home games.
