The Rebels have home-field advantage, which could make all the difference when the clock strikes zero.

Hawaii

In last season’s battle between Hawaii and UNLV, the Warriors took down the Rebels 48-10. Hawaii hasn’t looked good so far this season, but the team had also lost eight straight entering last year’s contest.

Despite being 0-5 on the year, the Warriors are 3-2 ATS. They failed to cover last week’s 3.5-point spread against San Jose State—a game that saw them fall 37-27.

Through five games, Hawaii is struggling on both sides of the ball. Its average point margin is a negative 14.6, and it is just 105th in points per game and 103rd in points per game allowed.

The one area where the Warriors have found success is through the air.

The team is tossing the ball for 276.8 yards per contest, which is good enough for 36th in the country. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

UNLV

UNLV is facing a winless Hawaii team, and it’s easy to get caught in a trap when you’re a near-10-point favorite. The Rebels have No. 21 Fresno State to look forward to next weekend, but they need to stay focused against a team that can air it out and surprise them if they’re not focused.

Despite being a subpar offensive unit, UNLV will score points. Hawaii struggles to stop any kind of offensive attack, and the Rebels will be able to do some damage, as they’re averaging a respectable 32.2 points per contest.

Where UNLV must concentrate is defending the pass. The team gives up 35.8 points per contest (110th in the country), and the Warriors’ offense will look to take advantage.

The last thing the Rebels want is for this game to become a shootout, as their defense is far from reliable at this point in the year.

Like Hawaii, the Rebels are 3-2 this season against the spread. Unlike the Warriors, the Rebels have a historical advantage in this matchup.

In its last five games against Hawaii at Sam Boyd Stadium, UNLV is 4-1 straight up.

Don’t expect that to change this time around, and don’t expect the Warriors to put up much of a fight when it’s all said and done.

Score Prediction: UNLV 35 – Hawaii 21
