Alabama Crimson Tide

Nick Saban doesn’t want a repeat of what happened last year. After a huge emotional win over arch rival LSU Tigers, the Crimson Tide suffered a let down. They went into College Station to face a buzz saw known as Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Alabama started off horribly slow and that cost them that game and an undefeated season, but not the BCS Championship. This year they might not be so lucky if they do suffer a letdown.

That’s why Saban has been especially vocal to his team this go around. Saban has stressed the 24 hour rule. Celebrate the LSU win for 24 hours and then forgot about it. Focus on the next task at hand.

For the most part under Saban, Alabama has been very good at not looking ahead and not suffering a hang over from the previous week. I think in this game Alabama will win, but covering the spread will be a bit tricky

Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have a lot to fight for. For one, Head Coach Dan Mullen is fighting for his job and beating or even competing with Alabama may be enough to secure his job for next year. Plus, the Bulldogs are fighting to become bowl eligible, and of course, bragging rights for beating the number 1 team in the nation.

The Bulldogs are coming in with some confidence even though they have lost two in a row. They fought back versus the Aggies scoring 21 points in the forth quarter and almost pulled off the upset. Overall, the Bulldogs aren’t a bad team. They just aren’t at the top.

When you look at their 5 losses they are to some of the best teams in the nation. An opening day loss to number 12 Oklahoma State, a 4 point loss on the road to the number 7 team in the nation, a loss to the number 21 LSU Tigers, and currently back-to-back losses to South Carolina and Texas A&M.  The number 10 and 11 teams respectively.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are a pretty good team, they have a lot of fight, and they have a lot to fight for, but unfortunately, for them they just aren’t there yet. And in this game they are playing the best team in the nation and currently they just don’t have the talent to stack up.

Danny’s FREE College Football Pick:

Overall, Alabama is the much better team and if they play all the way up to their potential; they should cover the spread no problem. But, coming off such a huge win over LSU you can’t help but think that there will be some letdown. Now, I do think there will be some letdown, but not a huge letdown.

There are a lot of players from last year that are aware of the “relief syndrome” and Saban just won’t allow his players to relax. They have a mission and that is to take it one game at a time and win each and everyone of them.

I think it’ll be very close, but all in all, I favor the Crimson Tide to cover.
