Ole Miss comes in following their rivalry game victory over then #4 Mississippi State.

Ole Miss

While the Rebels sat #3 in country in the middle portion of the season, they had their eyes set on crashing the BCS Playoff party. Following losses to LSU and Auburn, those hopes were gone and the Rebels were aiming for a New Years Day bowl game. After dropping an embarrassing 30-0 loss to Arkansas, the Rebels were able to salvage the season with an upset win over Mississippi State and finish in the top 10.

While settling for a New Years Eve clash with one of the best teams in the country is just fine with Ole Miss players, things won’t be easy if they hope to push their bowl winning streak to 7 games.

Ole Miss is led by Senior QB Bo Wallace. Wallace threw for 22 touchdowns and 3085 yards in the 2014 regular season. Wallace also added 5 rushing touchdowns to his already impressive 2014 resume.

While Bo Wallace was the center of attention most times, the Rebels defense was the main key to success this season. The Ole Miss defense ranks 1st in the nation with just 13.8 points a game. That number will certainly be tested New Years Eve when they go up against a high tempo, high scoring offense in TCU.

Ole Miss is returning to the place where their 2014 journey started when they took on Boise State in the season opener.

The Rebels handled the Broncos 35-13.

TCU

Obviously the TCU fan base, players, and coaches are less than thrilled to be taking part in the Peach Bowl. After routing Iowa State in their finale, TCU was positioned to get a spot in the BCS Playoff. The committee thought differently and bumped them behind now #4 Ohio State and #5 Baylor. Disappointed in the decision, TCU must now regroup when they meet the #9 Ole Miss Rebels in one of the best bowl games of the post season.

Ranking 2nd in total points scored (46.8 points per game), the high flying TCU offense will have it’s best test of the season when they meet with the nation’s best defensive team. Dual threat QB Trevone Boykin had 30 touchdowns with his arm and 8 with his legs this season. Throwing for 3714 yards, Boykin only threw for 7 interceptions in 2014.

With the Rebels defense getting all the glory, the Horned Frogs defense deserves almost as much credit. Allowing just 20.3 points against (18th), TCU allowed just 359.5 yards a game.

TCU has won 6 of their last 8 bowl games they’ve played in.

NCAA Football Trends:

  • Rebels are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 bowl games.
  • Rebels are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games.
  • Horned Frogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games.
  • Horned Frogs are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Bowl games.

Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl

While the Horned Frogs have a right to be disappointed, getting to play in the Peach Bowl against the #9 team in the country is going to a great match up. TCU will look to turn this game into a fast paced, high scoring contest. Ole Miss will attempt to control the clock and keep the Horned Frogs offense off the field.

Free 4* NCAA Football Pick: Ole Miss +3.5

TCU may be their own worst enemy in this one. Ole Miss is excited to be participating in the Peach Bowl, while TCU feels like they should be playing the day after.

Ole Miss 30, TCU 23

Look for Bo Wallace to end his campaign with an outright win in the Georgia Dome.
