Virginia is also coming off a solid win, having defeated the Virginia Cavaliers 34-20.

Florida State

The Florida State Seminoles were jumped by the Oregon Ducks in the most recent polls, courtesy of the College Football Playoffs committee. They’re now No. 3, and while that’s still in good shape for postseason success, it’s going to give this team motivation in Week 12.

So far this season, the Seminoles are elite, but one-dimensional on offense. The team is averaging 37.9 points per contest — the 16th-best mark in the nation — but it’s doing it through the air without having any success on the ground.

Passing the ball, FSU is 10th in the country. The team is throwing for 319.9 yards per game.

Rushing this group is just 104th in the nation. That equates to just 129.9 yards per contest, but defense has also been a success, a the Seminoles are averaging 22.4 points per contest — good enough for 33rd in the country.

Miami

The Miami Hurricanes have only played one ranked team this season. It was on Sept. 20, and it was against then-ranked No. 24 Nebraska.

Unfortunately, Miami lost 41-31, but this time around, it has home-field advantage against its second ranked opponent of the year.

So far this season, the Hurricanes have been solid on the defensive side of the ball. The team is giving up just 21.9 points per game, which is good enough for 26th in the nation.

Although Miami is excelling against both the pass and the run, defending through the air is where this group is really making a name for itself.

The Hurricanes are 10th in defending the pass, allowing just 180.6 yards per game in that category, while they’re  30th in defending the run, allowing 131.9 yards per contest.

Week 12 NCAA Football

This one shouldn’t be given to the No. 3 Seminoles automatically. Florida State has looked vulnerable at times this year, and Miami has an offense that is capable of surprising — especially considering the home crowd that will be behind it in Week 12.

4* Free NCAA Betting Pick Florida State -2.5

All that said, taking the Seminoles by less than a field goal is just too tempting.

With a spot in the College Football Playoffs on the line — the first ever, in fact — this team has motivation. Don’t be shocked if this one is close most of the way, but don’t be surprised, either, if FSU comes away with a win straight up, as well as against the spread.
