The Aztecs will look for an elusive road victory in this one. The team is coming off a strong 2013 season in which they qualified for the postseason and put a pounding on Buffalo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, but they need to get back to their winning ways if they hope to qualify for another bowl game this season.

San Diego State has wins over UNLV and Northern Arizona, but haven’t been able to muster a victory in their other three games, dropping three of their last four, including a 24-13 loss against Fresno State last week.

While San Diego State is winless on the road, New Mexico is winless at home, claiming victor in each of their two road games and failing to pick up a victory in any of their three home contests.

A week ago, New Mexico travelled to the Lone Star State to do battle with Texas-San Antonio and came away with a 21-9 win.

The victory gives New Mexico wins in two of its last three contests. Another win and they will match their entire output from a year ago when they went 3-9. If last year’s meeting is any indication, then New Mexico has a very real shot at claiming this won as San Diego barely eked by with a 35-30 victory in last year’s meeting.

San Diego State will likely be without quarterback Quinn Kaehler once again as he recovers from a shoulder injury. A week ago, Bawden completed only 9 of his 24 pass attempts for 84 yards and a pair of interceptions.

FREE New Mexico vs. San Diego State Pick:

San Diego State is installed as a favorite in this one based on name value only. This game is a virtual toss-up, and if anything, New Mexico should be favored based on the fact that they get this game at home, and the Aztecs struggled to move the ball as badly as they did a week ago without Kaehler in the lineup.

Additionally, the under in this game is intriguing given the litany of low-scoring games the Aztecs have been involved in, and the current state of their offense.

Week 7 NCAAF Trends

The Aztecs are 2-15 ATS in the last 17 meetings between these teams, while the Lobos are 6-2 ATS in their last eight game played in October.

The under is 5-0 in the Aztecs’ last five games overall, and it is 9-2 in the Lobos’ last 11 games after allowing fewer than 20 points in their previous game.
