Ole Miss had the good fortune of being off a week ago when many college football powerhouses stumbled, and that inaction was enough to bump the Rebels up to No. 8 in the AP poll.

That still won’t be enough to help the team into a position in which they can qualify for the SEC title game, and it seems to be a foregone conclusion that a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff is out of reach, but the Rebels do still have plenty to play for.

With losses by Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arizona State, Ole Miss is very much alive in the national playoff conversation, but they’ll need to close out the season by picking up a win at Arkansas, then defending their home turf against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.

Ole Miss got back into the win column its last time out, routing Presbyterian on Nov. 8 to snap a two-game losing streak.

As for Arkansas, the Razorbacks have really turned things around in SEC play after having been a real pushover when playing conference opponents.

Arkansas had lost 17 consecutive games inside the SEC prior to beating LSU 17-0 last weekend.

For the Razorbacks to continue their success, they will need to continue leaning on its power running game behind a big offensive line.

Running back Jonathan Williams has run for 932 yards and 11 touchdowns for the season, while Alex Collins has churned out 886 yards and a matching 11 touchdowns.

Ole Miss won last year’s meeting in Oxford by a score of 34-24. Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace threw for a career-high 416 yards in that one, adding three touchdowns.

FREE Arkansas vs. Ole Miss Pick:

Seeing the Razorbacks listed with such a short line against an SEC opponent would have been crazy a month or so ago, but this is a very different Razorbacks squad than we are used to seeing.

Additionally, both sides have the kind of strong defense to keep this affair low-scoring.

NCAAF Betting Trends

* The Razorbacks are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these programs, and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Fayetteville.
* The under is 6-2 in the last five meetings between these programs, and 4-1 in the last five meetings in Arkansas.
* The under is 10-2 in the Rebels’ last 12 games, and 7-1 in their last eight conference games.

Both will also be leaning heavily on their ground games, which will keep the clock ticking.
