Week 7 Odds: Eagles vs Wolfpack

The Boston College Eagles 3-2 (0-1 ACC) play the North Carolina State Wolfpack 4-2 (0-2 ACC) on Saturday afternoon. Visit Cappers Picks to view our free college football picks all year.

Boston College was off last week, but they lost to CSU (24-21) in their last game. NC State started 4-0, but the schedule has become harder and they’ve lost two in a row to FSU (56-41) and Clemson (41-0).

North Carolina State started the season with four wins, but the toughest win was against South Florida and they’re terrible this season. The Wolfpack still haven’t proven they can beat an ACC opponent.

The Wolfpack average 234.5 PYPG (63rd), 212.5 RYPG (32nd) and 33.7 PPG (52nd) on offense. They were just shutout by Clemson and it’ll be hard to bounce back from that performance against the Eagles.

Boston College has a solid defense that allows 111.2 RYPG (25th), 193.2 PYPG (24th) and 20.4 PPG (28th). I expect the Wolfpack offense to struggle, as they’re out of sync and playing a well rested defense.

NC State needs Jacoby Brissett to have a big game for them to win at home. Brissett has 13 TD passes and just 1 INT on the season. Last week he went 4 of 18 for 35 yards and that can’t happen again.

We know the game plan for the Eagles offense and that’s to run the football. Boston College has the 6th best rushing offense in the nation (316.8 RYPG), but they’re one of the worst passing teams.

The Eagles rarely pass and only average 133.2 PYPG (121st), which is a problem because defenses are able to stack the box to stop the run. If a defense shuts down the BC run game their offense struggles.

I expect BC to have success on the ground, as the Wolfpack allow 171.0 RYPG (77th). Tyler Murphy won’t beat NC State through the air, but he’s the leading rusher on the Eagles and a huge threat with his feet.

Boston College has 16 rushing TD’s and they’ll be able to wear down an already tired defensive front that has played two tough games in the last two weeks. Take the underdog in this situation to cover ATS.

  • Home team is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 meetings.

NCAAF Free Pick: Boston College Eagles vs. NC State Wolfpack

The home team is 5-0 in the last five H2H meetings, but even if the Wolfpack pull out a close win I don’t see them being able to cover the –3.5 point spread. I also like the ML, but take the points to be safe.
Boston College Eagles +3.5 (-110)

BC will be able to keep the NC State offense off the field for most of the game by moving the chains with the run game. This is an important ACC match-up and it’ll be close right down to the wire.
