Who will have the most wins in the ACC This Season?

Florida State dominated last season and even though they did their part in stocking NFL rosters they look primed to repeat as ACC and possibly national champions.

ACC Overview

The league adds Louisville this season. That improves the strength of the conference overall but the Cardinals are not really a threat to Florida State, not this season…nobody is. Clemson has been a legitimate threat the last couple of years but could not overtake FSU.

They are undergoing a significant transformation this year and will be lucky to maintain their secondary spot in the division. No program in the Coastal is expected to be a serious threat.

Why the Seminoles will have the most wins the ACC:

Florida State has as much talent as any team in the nation this season. That alone would be enough most years but when you combine that with a pretty light overall schedule the Noles have the makings of another undefeated season. They host Clemson, host Florida, have a neutral site game against an Oklahoma State team in flux and road games against Miami and Louisville.

They should be favoured by a TD or more in all of them.

It also doesn’t hurt when you have the returning Heisman Trophy winner operating your team. So far it seems like the only thing that can slow down Jameis Winston is off the field antics, everything from the serious to the silly – seriously stealing seafood.

If he is healthy and available for all the Seminoles games this season they are going to be awfully tough to beat even if they are breaking in some new players around him.

Last year FSU was the second highest scoring offense in the nation, averaging more than 50ppg. As key as Winston was it was also the fact that the Seminoles had a dominating offensive line that made a huge difference. 4 of those starters are returning and the one new face is a senior.

The running backs and receivers might be a little green this season but offense should have the time it needs to operate.

The defense was tops in the nation last year and returns 5 starters. Yes all those that left headed to the NFL but this if Florida State we are talking about so there is no reason to worry too much about the talent that is finally getting an opportunity.

Further building a defense around super athletic returning cornerbacks is a great place to start, and in Mario Edwards they have a defensive line presence that needs to be accounted for on every play.

On the sidelines the Noles lost their defensive coordinator but have promoted within so I would not expect to see much difference in terms of schemes. Head coach Jimbo Fisher continues to recruit very well and there has shown that he can work with top talent and win.

Florida State is back atop the mountain and they appear poised to be there for a long while. This team is not just good, it dominates.

Prediction:  12-0

When you look at whole package: talent, coaching and scheduling, it is hard not to see Florida State once again blitzing through the regular season and the ACC Championship game.

That should deposit them into the newly formed College Football Playoffs where they will have to play two top teams back to back.

An ACC Championship seems like a given and the over, even at 10.5, seems like a strong play.
