BCS Championship Game Free Pick – Florida vs Oklahoma

This game is almost too good to be true for football fans. Not since the 2005 Rose Bowl that saw the likes of Heisman winners Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart of USC face-off against Vince Young of Texas has a bowl game had this much firepower. This is a sexy match-up on paper and will not disappoint. We have the Florida Gators (12-1) against the Oklahoma Sooners (12-1). Both teams are known for their juggernaut offenses. QB Tim Tebow of Florida was last years Heisman trophy winner and Oklahoma’s QB Sam Bradford is the current Heisman trophy winner.

Tim Tebow threw for over 2500 yards, had 28 passing TDs with only 2 interceptions. He is a big, mobile quarterback who can dominate the game both through the air and on the ground. He pounded in 12 rushing TDs this season and rushed for over 500 yards.

The Gators’ offense Ranks 3rd in the nation with 46 points per game and 450 total yards per game. They accomplish this with a balanced attack of throwing and rushing. Their huge offensive line dominates opposing teams, averaging 237 team rushing yards each game. There isn’t a defense in America that can stop this freight train offense that is currently firing on all cylinders.

However, if its offense you want then look no further than the Oklahoma football team. They rank #1 in the country, scoring over 53 points a game and amassing a staggering 556 total yards. QB Sam Bradford had a phenomenal season, throwing 48 TDs with only 6 interceptions out of 442 pass attempts. These numbers overwhelmed voters and led Bradford to his first Heisman trophy.

But we all know that defense wins championships and there is only one potent defense taking the field on January 8th. The difference in this game is going to be Florida’s defense which has performed well all season. They rank 4th in the nation in points allowed and 7th in total yards allowed. Granted they haven’t faced an offense quite like the one they will face on January 8th; nonetheless, they have the talent on the field to slow down the Oklahoma offense. The same cannot be said for the other side of the football. Oklahoma does not possess a defense that can match up with the Florida offense. Oklahoma has allowed a ton of points all year against good opponents, losing to Texas and giving up 45 points as well as beating Oklahoma State but giving up 41 points.

BCS Free Pick:

Florida is better equipped to win this football game and the title as BCS National Champion. They will beat Oklahoma and cover the spread (-4.5) in the BetUS sportsbook.
