Boise State Broncos 2015 NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Predictions

2015-16 Football Previews – (MWC) – Broncos

The Mountain West Conference defending champion Boise State Broncos are back during the 2015 NCAA Football Season and looking to add more accolades to their resume. After a stellar 10-2 regular season campaign, Boise State took out Fresno State to take the conference and then Arizona in their bowl game.

This season, things could get even better for the Broncos – if you could imagine that. With a huge number of starters returning, Bryan Harsin and company are ready to take their game to the next level.

With multiple teams moving up in their conference to try and challenge them, the Broncos have the opportunity to distance themselves from the rest of the MWC and make some noise on the national level.

And while they have been asked for the last few years to join larger, more prominent conferences, this season could be the indicator that the Broncos are ready for the next step.

Let’s break down the team’s strengths and weaknesses in 2015.

Team Strengths

The team is returning its top players at every single position except for two. In most cases, they’re returning all players for certain position groups, including the offensive line, which did not lose a single person this offseason. Combine that with a very young, talented, aggressive coaching staff and you have an explosion waiting to happen.

Top receiver Shane Williams-Rhodes is back and he’s bringing his 89.5% catch efficiency with him. Kamalei Correa and his 19 tackles for loss and 12 sacks from last year is back. Darian Thompson and Donte Deayon will be back after combining for 13 interceptions last season to lead the Bronco secondary.

Team Weaknesses

Those two positions not returning starters happen to be QB and RB. With Grant Hedrick and Jay Ajayi gone, there are definitely questions that need to be answered. While many feel that Ryan Finley can effectively replace Hedrick, the line of possible starters at RB will have to face a big question: can they hold onto the ball?

That was a question people were asking last season when Ajayi was spelled by other backs. Fumbleitis struck each possible replacement as recent as this spring in camp. That could be a bigger issue than many believe if it is not addressed immediately.

While you can’t say their schedule has any weaknesses, they fact that they play both BYU and Utah State on the road could be a hindrance on their season outcome. Especially with Utah State the immediate challenger for their Mountain Division crown, they Broncos can’t be jaded on the road.

2015-16 Boise State Broncos Prediction: 11-1

The biggest question this season is not whether they can stay afloat, stay relevant or hold on to their Mountain West crown, but whether or not they can go undefeated. Having schools like Washington and BYU on the schedule could be a blessing in disguise and a boost to their college playoff chances if the Broncos DO run the table against this level of competition.

Going undefeated is a lot harder than it used to be – especially when teams are building themselves specifically to beat you.
